evlove | 89 comments Hey guys! Looking for book recs with maybe some romantasy and some drama but not so much war involved. I feel like a lot of fantasy series’ revolve around war.

Lucy | 131 comments Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber!!
Flowerheart by Catherine Bakewell
Gallant by V.E. Schwab (more magical realism than fantasy technically, but so hauntingly beautiful)
The Girl who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh
Cathedral of Bones by A.J. Steiger if you’re okay with middle grade!
also if you’re ok with middle grade, Ember and the Ice Dragons by Heather Fawcett

The Jinn Daughter--> lyrical writing and middle eastern mythology
Sabriel--> good darkish fantasy centered around necromancy
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue--> compelling story
The Bear and the Nightingale--> lyrical writing and russian-inspired

ali | 76 comments Six of Crows does have a heist and a lot of fighting, but not actual war.
Graceling has a pretty good romance and some fun, instense fighiting scenes with no war involved, but it does drag around the middle.
Howl's Moving Castle is a super chill but entertaining book with an amazing romance

BlueJay ♡ | 18 comments The Lost Apothecary, set in London and it has some magic in it. You can kind of tell by the name! I love the book, hope you give it a chance.

message 17: by Sinna (new)

Sinna | 9 comments The Dragons of Terra has a lot of quest violence but no war in the first two books.
Demigods of San Francisco is romantasy and the audiobooks are a blast. The Part About the Dragon Was Mostly True is a fun romp. The Tales of Pell is a silly fun series. Iconoclasts is a dark incredibly well written fantasy questcwith a touch of horror.

Debra Sabah Press Strange the Dreamer, Daughter of Smoke and Bone/Laini Taylor (and any of her other books)

Scorpio Races, Raven Cycle, the Dreamer Trilogy/Maggie Stievater
Name of the Wind/Pat Rothfuss

To Shape a Dragon's Breath: The First Book of Nampeshiweisit/Moniquill Blackgoose

Daevabad Trilogy/ S.A. Chakraborty (there is some political conflict/violence, but the books are not about war and are very clean)

The Firekeepers Daughter/Angeline Boulley

Debra Sabah Press I definitely agree with the winternight trilogy (The bear and the Nightingale) and the invisible life of Addie LaRue. Love v.e. schwab's other books too.

also, Babel is an amazing book
