I love the ending but I love happy endings.
Honestly, it took a LONG time for me to like Aelin. I know she had a hard life and everything, but I just couldn't get into her character right away. And I had a really hard time remembering whether Lysandra was the child or the adult. Too much going on at once. Loved the series, but a bit confusing at times
I liked the series idea but yes the end was strange ro me.
TOG was amazing, everything about it. I loved all of it, I felt what everyone else feels when they read it. Except, when the Kingdom of Ash hit, it ruined everything. I would have PREFERRED Aelin to have died in the gates than the weird "twist" that was pulled.
They kill Elena, for not wanting to make deals and then Aelin kills them all, but Mala grants firepower that pretty much let's Aelin get back to her world, skipping through a bunch of other worlds and then Rhysand slows her descent and then she loses all her power pretty much, which, personally not a fan AT ALL.
And then chaols lady is the one who kills erawan, with healing Magic and some shit and then happily ever after the only person to die was Aedions father and everyone has a loving partner, including Aedion getting Lysandra. Like what!? Aedion was a disgusting POS who constantly didn't believe in Aelin and ALWAYS talked trash to Lysandra. Aedion should have died. He was a crying man child who did nothing of significance except "vow his loyalty to the queen" while telling her she was useless and couldn't do anything. LOOOOOL.
After Anielle, that book was trash, and I got rid of all of them. ACOTAR was okay but I DNF the third book because of Nesta, and I don't plan to touch any more of Sarah's books, especially since TOG was superior anyway and it ended as bad as it did.
I would have preferred Aelins death than her losing her power and all the other weird trash that happened afterward with everyone else.
Sarah is known for weird happy endings and matching people up all the time but as much as I loved it, I'm not gonna ignore how bad the last book was and everyone else ignoring it too.
