‎ (janeyres) i finished reading "a little life" a few days ago, and it's one of those books that lingered with me, leaving me with a profound sense of emptiness. another of my favorites, "the picture of dorian gray," has continued to resonate with me over the years.

have you ever encountered a book that evoked such strong and unique emotions in you?

BlaireReadsTheThings (blairehill) | 18 comments I know a lot of people are Colleen Hoover haters and that's fine. I've only read a few of her books. Some are definitely better than others. But... Reminders of Him absolutely wrecked me. I ugly cried several times and couldn't fathom picking up another book for about a week after I read it. My sister had a similar reaction. I don't know if you have to be a certain age, but I do suggest that you be a parent if you read it to get the full effect.

Deen (woeisshe) Sold by Patricia McCormick. especially because it's based on true events those young girls go through.

I absolutely love normal people! All of my friends who read it didn't understand it and hated the ending and I was sat there in shock listening to them. Like the ending is literally like that because that's the whole point of the book, not to set like really high expectations of love. Also if you haven't watched the series they made it into then you definitely should!

message 35: by xoxo_lils (new)

xoxo_lils | 29 comments Of mice and men wrecked me. I read it all in one day cause it was so short. I finished it at like 5pm and I was sobbing at the end. I didn't know what I was supposed to do with my life, it left me just feeling so empty and depressed. I couldn't pick up another book (and actually pay attention to it) for at least the next 2 days. Man, it was a rollercoaster.
