i finished reading "a little life" a few days ago, and it's one of those books that lingered with me, leaving me with a profound sense of emptiness. another of my favorites, "the picture of dorian gray," has continued to resonate with me over the years.

Never Let Me Go. We read it in my freshman group in college and I've never forgotten it. It left me with a sense of sadness, and I think about it often.

Raising Steam because it was basically the end of an era for Discworld and Terry Pratchett's life, and the whole thin feels like such a... final chapter, a glimpse into a future we'll sadly never get to see.

There's also one short story from Dubliners, where the final likes have just never left me.

"He could not feel her near him in the darkness nor her voice touch his ear. He waited for some minutes listening. He could hear nothing: the night was perfectly silent. He listened again: perfectly silent. He felt that he was alone."

I have read A Girl in pices and it literally left me a girl in pieces crying at two in the morning it was so heartbreaking and I loved it. It was the first book I read in one go. If you want a broken heart I would totally recommend 🫶🏻
