Megan Danvers | 74 comments Possibly a dumb question but I have this location in one of my WIPs which is like an early college astronaut university. My question is, should I call it the:

International Academy OF Space Exploration

or

International Academy FOR Space Exploration

Like I said. Dumb question but it's bugging me and I can't decide which name works better.

Jessi | 34 comments Not a dumb question! I know how that feels!
I like FOR because it feels more active.

Thank you for the response! I'm glad you don't think the question is dumb.

Jackie Gent | 5 comments Late to respond to this but why don’t you examine the acronyms for each and choose the one that can most easily be turned into a nickname for the academy

With most acronyms words like "for" or "of" don't get included so the academy acronym is simply IASE rather than IAFSE or IAOSE. I once considered having the name be the International Space Exploration Academy just so the acronym would be ISEA (roughly looks like it could be said as "I see ya") but either a beta reader or one of my sisters suggested against it.

Jessi | 34 comments Ok, so your post came back up in my notifications and had me thinking again.

International Academy OF Space Exploration feels more possessive. Like the Academy's purpose is to explore space for themselves; research/analysis driven like NASA.

vs.

International Academy FOR Space Exploration feels more like they are studying to take on space as the next viable option for living, to explore life, to push boundaries.

anyway, you've probably already decided haha
