Saar The Book owl | 3124 comments Ah, thanks, Felina. I'll check it, 'cause I need to update my reading on Insomnia.

Yea... Nirkatze posts schedules in every thread... she repurposes her Thank You! comments she makes to claim spot number 2, after Yanique makes a thread... usually...

Even I've grown complacent about that :D

message 153: by Felina (new)

Felina | 2416 comments It’s essential since the threads aren’t always requested immediately so it’s the only way to properly plan. Nirkatze for the win!

message 154: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 21250 comments LOL Happy to be of service!

message 155: by Felina (new)

Felina | 2416 comments Pretty sure if it weren’t for Nirkatze and Iain, I’d be lost in this group. Walking around in circles and bumping into random threads.

Definitely helps to have a group chaperone or 2, that can navigate...

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2348 comments If anyone is interested, in my Stephen King group we're going to be re-reading the Gwendy's Button Box trilogy in July....

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Definitely a DT related set, though not part of the core story....

message 158: by Saar The Book owl (new)

Saar The Book owl | 3124 comments Could it be that in this book there's also a subtile reference to 'It'?
(view spoiler)

1) Wrong thread, this is the planning thread
2) I think there was also a line about sewers near the end
3) I think they're set in the same made up town in Maine... Derry...

message 160: by Felina (new)

Felina | 2416 comments Correct!

message 161: by Saar The Book owl (new)

Saar The Book owl | 3124 comments Oh, sorry, I really thought I've wrote it in the right thread. I'm blaming this on my fever...

message 162: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 21250 comments I hope your fever clears up quickly Saar!

message 163: by Saar The Book owl (new)

Saar The Book owl | 3124 comments Thanks, Nirkatze :)

message 164: by Chris (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2348 comments Okay, so after finishing the Gwendy's Button Box trilogy....

These definitely should be read after the main DT series. Especially the third book.

Felina | 2416 comments ***Sing songy yodel yell*** Nirkatze?! Poke list!

Timelord Iain | 35696 comments Mod
There’s a million more loosely connected DT books we could read… we only scheduled the smallest of 4 lists…

message 167: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 21250 comments I added a note about potentially continuing on to those books after DT in the link post I do...

Speaking of which, It's probably close to time to ask if the monthly schedule on the 1st is going well for folks--we've got Eyes of the Dragon scheduled for Aug 1st, but the books after that have yet to be requested. Is everyone still OK for The Stand starting Sept 1st, or do we need to push it further?

message 168: by Saar The Book owl (new)

Saar The Book owl | 3124 comments For me it's okay. I don't know what the others think?

Fine with me… in my head the original plan is still set in stone, even if I’m running super behind on starting Stephen King each month… need to maintain motivation…

message 170: by Chris (last edited Jul 14, 2024 05:58AM) (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2348 comments I've gone rogue....After I flew through the Gwendy series, I tried to go back to Dragonlance......got through about 20 pages across the entire day between heavy naps....

So I started Elevation and was on fire again, reading a third of it before bed. It's a novella, but I felt the reading spark again..

So far Elevation isn't showing any Dark Tower references, but it is set in Castle Rock, which I wanted to see more of after Gwendy.

message 171: by Felina (new)

Felina | 2416 comments I’m so behind on everything, I’d be happy for a push back on anything. Ha ha.

message 172: by Ann-Marie (new)

Ann-Marie | 5564 comments Wasn't The Stand going to be 6 weeks? I am okay with whatever but I remember the 6 week thing maybe? It would be ideal to start The Stand 9/1 then the next 11/1 to allow maximum Spooktober reading :)

I was going to try to fit these in, so I should wait until after reading DT?

Yes. It wouldn't hurt to read the first 2, but you might want to read them back to back to back....Book 3 has a definite DT spoiler and some cool Easter eggs that you'd miss before reading those.....

I'll likely let them go for now then and read all 3 together after the main series is through, thanks!

Yeah, the Stand was to start Sept 1, but the next book isn't until mid October.

message 177: by Ann-Marie (new)

Ann-Marie | 5564 comments The Stand is 47 hours & 47 minutes.....Plus there is the Stormlight Archives in there as well.....I am pre-emptively stressing out lol

message 178: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 21250 comments I'm seeing two "keep Sept 1st" one "move it back more" and one "oh god why" and I'm not sure what those add up to....

message 179: by Ann-Marie (new)

Ann-Marie | 5564 comments Sorry, I was just whining, I am fine with The Stand starting September 1st and Everything's Eventual mid-October but I stand by the "oh god why" sentiment lol

Osten Ard is also starting in September... another chonker epic fantasy

message 181: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 21250 comments The Stand requested for Sept 1! Will wait to request the next until we're dug into that one.

But I'll give the audio for The Stand a shot... I eye read it years ago

High five!

I read the original version when I was probably too young to do so and then I read the expanded version when it was released and maybe 1 or 2 re-reads after? Definitely at least one, I know I re-read it before the first mini series was released. I really, REALLY hope this one lives up to the hype in my mind, I loved this book so much I bought a first edition years ago!
