Book will not sort by pub date

I had sorted my Read shelf by pub date and noticed that Born A Crime was not sorting properly. It showed up almost first when I sorted the dates to see the oldest first. (It was second, after a book published in BC times.) I'm a GR librarian and I checked the book details, and the pub dates are both entered correctly. The original date of November 15, 2016 and the paperback edition date of February 12, 2019, are both there. I tried reentering the dates and saving it, and that didn't fix it. I can't figure out why this is happening. Any ideas?
