Whilst I liked this book and I love this series and Bess as a character, this was definitely the most disappointing of the books so far. None of the supporting characters that I really like and have come to expect appearing in the book had a role of any size or significance, and I just didn’t really understand why she would involve herself so much in this mystery when it didn’t have a personal connection to her. There were so many different characters in this book, and the plot was more complicated in this one than the previous books in this series, that I had to really think and concentrate on this one. The book was still very fast-paced and kept my interest, and the writing was so good it left me wanting more, so I will pick up the next in this series in a couple of days.
