Personally, it was The duke and I (first Bridgerton book) that really got me into reading. It still sits on my shelves and everytime I catch a glimpse of it I feel my heart expand even if it wasn’t thaaaat good.

i used to read a lot before when i was a kid and then covid hit and i got into a slump. but recently (oct 2023), i read a good girl's guide to murder and it got me into reading again.
On one hand I'd say The Giver since it was the first pick of my family book club for 2023 and that's when I got back into reading, but the first particular book that really sparked something in me to read more would probably be Uprooted by Naomi Novik
I used to read a lot in my younger days, but as time went on I made very little time for it. I recently started getting into the habit of reading books again. However, I would say the book that helped me get back into reading was “The Silent Patient”.Growing up I read books Junie B. Jones, MagicTreeHouse series, A to Z mysteries, Dork Diaries, Diary of a wimpy kid, and Brixton Brothers series.
i don't think there was a specific book, i've always loved reading for as long as i can remember and my mum said i've always been a reader, even as a little girl when i used to read picture books.
i don't remember what ever got me into reading but as a kid i loved reading jacqueline wilson's books! :) i remember reading the tiara club series as well! and i can't remember much but i'm pretty sure the ally's world series. if not that then something quite similar to it!!
i'm sure there were plenty of others but they're the first things that come to mind ^-^
i've had plenty of reading slumps over the years. pretty sure the maze runner books got me back into reading as i got older, can't remember how old. but then i've been v off and on since :) so more lately it was Caraval that got me back into reading for the last year or more now :)
I quit reading for a long time. I would read a book here and there but didn't enjoy it like I used to. I read "Where the Crawdads sing", amazing book by the way. and since then I've been unstoppable reading 1-2 books a week. I still have yet to find a book that I've loved as much a that one though since I've started back up.
The first books I remember devouring from the library were by a woman named Ruth Chew. Her books are all out of print, but they were all about kids who discovered some magical object or being. I even tried writing one of my own where the kids bought a cleaner at a strange shop and when they used it on their mirror, well, magic happened, lol. My love of classics began in college with Pride and Prejudice. Then I discovered Thomas Hardy ... well, and so much more. My current love of crime fiction has to be credited to all those British crime writers.
The Shape Shifter series by Ali Sparkes. I went through the first book so quickly that my parents bought me the rest of the series in English for my birthday (Dutch is my native language). Thats also when I developed my preference for English books over books in my native language :) Added the books to my want to read list again for the sake of nostalgia
As a kid, I loved to read Little House on the Prairie series. It was truly like the door opened for me!
the mirror visitor! im canadian and read it in french and i remember how much i loved it :) i also read ugly love and that kinda got me into reading more in english
I’m a new ish reader.. I started reading two years ago. It was TSITP Trilogy that got me into reading!
i only just started getting back into reading and the book it ends with us by colleen hoover brought back a lot of memories from my childhood
I think 1984 from George Orwell which I read during my studies and then definitely Verity from Colleen Hoover, I still think about this book...

Great quote from the classic.
Twisted love and where the crawdads sing. I am part of the book community that loved reading but took a years break only to come back with a vengeance!
Eragon and the rest of the Inheritance Cycle and Twilight, lol. I was a teen when Twilight was released, so I fell in with the hype for those books. Eragon really solidified my love for fantasy. I still love fantasy to this day because of those books. :)
this is so bad but ugly love by colleen hoover. hate to admit it but she started the book journey. havent read any of her other books yet lol.
I started enjoying reading when I got into manga (which big OOF now looking back at specifically Vampire Knight). The first book series I remember getting into was the Vampirates and Unwind. And since then I've explored all sorts of books and genres.
I've always been a reader, but the first books that come to mind are the twilight series. Those had me hooked and obsessed for a long time.
I've always been a reader, even as a child. I did go through periods of time where i did not read through, but something always pulled me back. In high school i remember reading the Sweep Series by Cate Tiernan, then in my early 20s i got pulled back with Kelley Armstrong's Women of the otherworld series. Then back in 2021, I had a major surgery done and was bedridden, my husband picked me up ACOTAR and well it's been my #1 "hobby" ever since then
im dyslexic so i never got into reading but during lockdown i still had a book from my school so i decided to sit down and read it and i ended up loving it. It was The Hate List by Jenifer brown. i still have it i didnt give it back. im not sure what it was but it just made me love reading.
Was not a native English speaker and cried in kindergarten once for not knowing the word "table", but one day my mother bought a set of Childcraft's "How and Why" and gradually got invested! And the first book I've finished reading is Classic Start's version of "A Little Princess".
