Hannah | 3285 comments This was another enjoyable instalment in the Bess Crawford series, thought this book is mainly set in England during WW1 rather than at the Front. In this book, Bess helps to solve a crime that happened two years previously that led to the deaths of 100 factory workers who were killed in an explosion. The books in this series definitely follow a pattern, but I did really enjoy reading about Bess and her interactions with the other main characters, and Sergeant Lassiter, Simon and the Colonel all reappear in this book. On the whole I didn’t find this book or the ending as good as I hoped it would be which has pulled my rating down, but the mystery was still compelling, and I will continue with this series.
