You Couldn't Ignore Me If You Tried: The Brat Pack, John Hughes, and Their Impact on a Generation - Susannah Gora - 3 stars

This book focuses on the 80s dramedy teen movies Sixteen Candels, The Breakfast Club, St. Elmo's Fire, Pretty in Pink, and Say Anything. The writers, directors, cast, shooting and public reaction is discussed with more attention on John Hughes than anyone else.

It might be because I was born at the end of the 80s and I watched the movies in the late 90s, early 2000, but I found much of the book to be overstated. John Hughes also does not seem like the beloved director as he often portrayed. His relationship with Molly Ringwald seemed out of the ordinary if not inappropriate, not to mention his tantrums and silent treatments. I do love his movies though. The Breakfast Club is my favorite of the 80s teen movies.

My favorite part of the book was learning the history behind "The Brat Pack" as well as seen all the young actors and actresses career paths.

Though I enjoyed the book, I do find it a bit long.
