Katarina | 116 comments I honestly don’t know how net galley works all I know is that most or all of there arcs are e books and I like physical books a little more

Corrie 🎀✨🎧 i created a netgalley account a little bit ago and all i did was link my profile here to there. once you have your profile set up you just start requesting books. then based on the publishers profiles you can adjust your profile so that you can get more of the type of books you want

The numbers, for many, are not important (at least in my case). the more sites you have where you can upload your reviews, the better. you have 54 days to read a book, after which you will no longer be able to open the ebook

sarah m ☽₊‧⁺˖⋆ | 3 comments honestly it's not that hard to get started at all, like others said you can just make your account and get requesting pretty quickly! you definitely need to have somewhere with some kind of traffic that you post the reviews, whether it's a public profile here or some book-centered social media account, but you don't need to have a crazy following or anything to be approved sometimes.

honestly as long as you have something that makes you seem trustworthy as a reviewer it's not too bad

Megan (sporadic hiatus due to law school) (excessivenarwhal) | 10 comments it's pretty simple getting started but everyone above is right about making sure you've got a solid, consistent location to post reviews. personally I requested a bunch of books at first, especially some that looked good but were from lesser-known authors (you're more likely to get those to bump up your % read than well-known authors at first) and make sure that when you get a book you leave a review- even if it's just to say dnf or whatever. that way your feedback ratio stays over 80%

chthonicbambi | 13 comments I just started using NetGalley so I'm also trying to figure things out. It's so much easier than I thought.

Basically you make a profile where you say what kind of books you review and where you review them. You have to provide links to the places where you review such as goodreads, storygraph, amazon, instagram, tiktok etc. It's better if you have several platforms and are active on them. There is something called a feedback ratio that you should try and maintain at 80 or above by reviewing the books that you request before they are archived. i've heard that you should try and request books from small publishers first. There is also a section called Read Now on there where you can immediately read arcs without needing to request them. I'm reading and reviewing books on the Read Now tab first so I can build up credibility before requesting.

Having a large following does not matter at all! Many people with small accounts have received several arcs on there. I'd say it does not hurt to try!
