ok so I am starting to dive deeper into the world of ACOTAR. i recently brought the second book ACOMAF and I just want to know how much i should prepare myself mentally because this is my first time reading a fantasy series and I'm kind of scared

i do not understand the hype of this book because even for a fantasy it's completely unbelieveable and the characters dont make any sense. i dont like any of these characters. they feel like a crappy rip off of characters written by other authors. the story was engaging but the whole time i'm thinking this character is basically katniss from the hunger games or belle from beauty and the beast.

I agree with CornBread... Though, since this is one of your introduction books to fantasy, I think it'll still be a good read. I think most people who have a problem with ACOTAR are people who are already used to fantasy books with good character development/world-building.

I actually disagree with Nicole and CornBread. Especially after the third book, I felt really connected to the characters and their relationships with each other. Although there are definite parallels between characters and other characters in other stories, Feyra actually does not give me Katniss vibes or Belle vibes at all besides the story parallels. Feyra is like Katniss only in the sense that she hunts for her family with a bow and arrow. Every huntress that uses a bow and arrow to get food does not have to be Katniss. I find their personalities very different. Same with Belle. Their personalities are way different even if some facts are the same in both stories. I would agree that the books focus more on character building than world building, but I think the world is still understandable. I do wish there was more information about how the magic worked but from what I gather its more about the individual will of each person rather than a set of rules of how the magic works like in Harry Potter. I do not think this is only good as an intro into fantasy. I have read many fantasy books and still love this world.

CornBread Clan There were many details I didn't like about the book but those were the ones that popped in my head at the time. I agree that the character comparison ...more
