Pursuit of Happiness (Douglas Kennedy). Reread it several times. It still touches me deeply.

Anita Blake series by Laurell K Hamilton and Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. These series are my go back to when I am in a reading slump.

When I Am Laid in Earth - I read this back in October and I still think about the ending almost daily. The entire trilogy is top notch, but the ending was just... indescribable.
The last book in Poppy Wars. I was LIVID. But so good

Every Man Dies Alone, Hans Fallada. It's long and it's bleak, but this story of a humble German couple who lose their son in World War II and then decide to leave protest notes against Hitler around Berlin, at a great risk to their lives, will stay with me for a long time

The Cruel Prince, I am reading it again and I just get sad because I know that it is never real. I wish i was in this world. I will never read it the same again knowing what is going to happen

The final book, #3: The Winners, in Fredrik Backman's Beartown Trilogy. Needed two boxes of tissues, STILL succumb to sobs--not mere tears but heaving, snotty sobs, every time my adult daughter delivers a certain line from memory. It'll stick with me the rest of my days.

Sans Famille - Hector Malot. I got it for my birthday when I was younger, but it was hard for me to read. I was reading it THREE YEARS! But when I got older I actually understood the book and I think it built me as a person (I'm a teen)Also - the Grishaverse books
