message 105: by Elvira (new)

Elvira Bergquist | 28 comments The Vegetarian. I read it some years ago and I still think about it weekly. It was so… good isn’t the right word because I hated it as a 17 year old, but it really was good. There’s no other way to describe it - it was captivating, almost soul sucking, and I hadn’t read a book with that much influence before. Not even A Little Life has competed with The Vegetarian.

message 116: by PurpleLadi (new)

PurpleLadi There are several books that stick with me, but "The Book of Joshua 1: Trust" by Iris Bolling, "Fire ad Desire" by Brenda Jackson, and "A Silken Tread" by Brenda Jackson are forever engraved in my head because each contain a character whose betrayal of the main character was beyond despicable and totally unforgivable.

message 118: by Cortney (new)

Cortney Guysinger-Demint (cortneylgd) | 33 comments the Invisible Life of Addie Larue. I wish I could read it again for the first time. i don't see it on lists much, so I'm guessing most feel "meh" about it. I honestly savored that book. I loved it so much I'd read the chapters a couple times before I moved on & intentionally drug it out.
