Is there a book you'd like to buddy read? Make a request here, then set up a thread to discuss.

Hi all - Just checking if I missed any of the buddy reads from the 2023 request thread. You can check the calendar here: Buddy Read Schedule. Let me know is anything isn't there.

I know we were still talking about a few, so feel free to continue those discussions in this thread. I think we were considering The Nature of Disappearing, The Fury, maybe others.

The Nature of Disappearing by Kimi Cunningham Grant The Fury by Alex Michaelides

message 3: by Trisha (new)

Trisha | 1570 comments I have The Fury
Down to read whenever!

I'm seeing some mixed reviews lol

I think a couple other people have that one. I want to say Shruti and Katrisa. I think they're planning a buddy read, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I'm sure they'll pop in soon.

I have The Nature of Disappearing and there was some interest, but I'm not sure anyone else has it.

I think we also mentioned House of Glass House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen . I think people were interested in buddy reading, but it doesn't publish until August 6th. Should we set up a thread for this one? Maybe with a plan to read in the summer some time?

message 5: by Elyse (new)

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 1523 comments I read The Fury last week and did not enjoy it. I gave it 2 stars.

message 6: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2898 comments Mod
Oh yikes... I didn't request it because I didn't enjoy the sample I read. I almost ended up requesting it when everyone was discussing it in the old buddy read thread. (FOMO and all that.) Now I'm glad I skipped it. I hope everyone else enjoys it more.

Shruti morethanmylupus (morethanmylupus) | 1111 comments Eek that doesn't bode well for us at all, Elyse! I think I gave the silent patient 3/5 and Maidens 2/5 so I'm not feeling too great about this one right now.

message 8: by Elyse (new)

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 1523 comments There have been people who enjoyed The Fury so if you have it, you might as well try it out. But I knew very quickly that I wasn't going to like it.

message 9: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 871 comments Kristie, I made the thread for The Guest so you can link it. Thinking the beginning of Feb, but am waiting to see what Shruti wants to do.

Oh boy. I just withdrew my request bc I wasn't a big fan (DNF'd) of The Silent Patient so would rather not feel pressure to read and review this one.

Shruti morethanmylupus (morethanmylupus) | 1111 comments Did anyone else get widgets for either of these?

Goddess of the River by Vaishnavi Patel
I’m starting already because I made my very religious grandma read Kaikeyi and she loved it. I'm visiting her right now and she's dying to know how Patel's sophomore effort is. But I'll start a thread for it if anyone is interested.

The Lost Story by Meg Shaffer
This is the same author as The Wishing Game (which I 5 starred) so I'm very excited about it. It's supposed to be inspired by the Narnia series.

Yay! It's not publishing until July (on my birthday! 😊) but I'm excited about this one and probably won't want to wait that long. What's your lineup like? Let me know when you want to slot this one in!

Oh perfect! Yes, honestly whenever works for you works for me (I'm generally quite unscheduled with my reading) - Last Verse for early March and Till Death for late March is great. I'm not really sure how this works though since I'm new to this - should I make a thread for these two?

It's up to you. I can make the thread or you can!

Let's go The Last Verse by Caroline Frost - 3/1

and then Till Death Do Us Part by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn - 3/20 ?

I think we’re starting The Lost Story by Meg Shaffer on 3/10 already? Maybe we push Lola back a few days.
