No, Kindle would slow down my reading speed. I prefer hardcovers.

OK explain lol...Did you used to cut yourself on pages or did you tear pages frequently?

Interesting! I think you're one of the first to say that it would slow you down. In what ways. Do tell?

This is something id love to get into more, Trying out all of the free local libraries around me. need to find a map

Agreed I'm all about both

There have been studies done and they show that people do read faster on e-readers but that they retain the information better when they read in print. For my work-related books (I am a writer and do a lot of historical research) I get print books.

As an aside, I used to love the smell of new books. Then I worked at a bookstore and let’s just say the experience cured me.

The smell of new books will never be something I don't love

BUT e-books are 99% newly published books which I don't like. Hardly any old and beloved novels.
Plus when I read an (auto)biography, I love to see the same 60+ photos that are in the hardcover version. Can e-book handle that?

In 1993 my first former husband and I drove all the way on his motorcycle from Hamburg, Germany to Corsica, France, in the Mediterranean.
I took the new Maria Riva autobiography (on her life with her mother Marlene Dietrich) and "Gone with the Wind" with me. I finished both books and bought some French books to read on the long way back to Hamburg, Gerrmany.
The two heavy books never inconvenienced me.

I worked at a library for a small amount of time prior to my current job many years ago. It was my favorite when we would get new books to add to the catalog. Book Stores and libraries are my favorite places to go.

This is me too. KU is my favorite! I have had so many good books come across that platform and Its easy on the budget.

Kindle is a really nice lightweight option that lets me read anywhere and not squint at tiny print, but sometimes I just want that book-feel satisfaction.

I think it's not possible to settle a debate based on personal preferences "for once and for all." There's no right or wrong here, and everybody's preference is just fine. Isn't it great that there's still SOMETHING we don't have to adhere to as though it were written in stone?

I have always been a physical book person. I love the feel, smell and look of a book. But its been a very long time since I've been able to finish a physical book. I either lose interest because the gap between reading it too long or find it hard to recall what's even happened.
Since getting my Kindle a month ago I've ready 4 books. I love reading in Bed at night. The only time I get to read is from 10pm - 12am but I couldn't because my husband can't sleep with any type of light on. but with my e reader I can read it on dark mode and not disturb my husband. For an unknown reason my book recall is much better too. I can think back and recall everything about those 4 books. I could never do that with physical books, very strange. My plan now it to buy the physical books of the ones I LOVE and want to keep forever.

That's fantastic! I received mine a gift this summer from my sister! Best gift ever

That's totally fair

I totally agree. There's no burden with E-readers

totally agree. really depends on one's circumstances. we all have different lives, so we also have different choices.

Man 4 hour commutes! That's crazy! You literally spend a quarter of your waking day riding somewhere
