I love long books but I always get scared of getting bored that’s why I’ve put off reading twisted lies lol, And yeah I use to hate dual pov but now I love hearing the guy being all in love

Also VERY IMPORTANT: inaccurate historical/cultural context!! I read mostly historical fiction and this is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!! (An example would be Ozeki’s The Book of Form and Emptiness. Anyone from San Francisco can relate I suppose)

I might also be in the minority for this, but I’m not a fan of domineering men who call the main character pet names for real. For instance, “baby,” or “sweetheart.” It just rips me out of the story because I feel so embarrassed lmao. If the pet names are done in a joking manner, however, than I find it bearable. Another thing about male leads that I find questionable is the possessiveness that have. My good Sir, this is a whole human who will make their own choices. I advise you to not control their interactions with other people.
Generally speaking, I don’t like it when relationships between characters are reduced to tropes and there’s no further development that makes the relationship unique to their world. And speaking of world, lukewarm world-building makes me sad. Same goes for cultures — please do research before incorporating a culture that you have not grown up with.
Oh damn that got long. Hehe.

I think sometimes dual pov can ruin a book because it gives away the mystery/suspense/longing etc. of the romance. In my opinion dual pov can be a hit or miss.

OMG same hate when the spine is broken I will literally read my book so carefully just so i don’t break the spine!!!

Maybe I’m just too much of a perfectionist, but another annoying thing is when people haven’t reached the fluency level of a language parallel to the book’s difficulty and look up too many words. I don’t have problem with annotations per se, but if you look up the words, please don’t write them down on the book. And if you do write them down, please don’t resell the annotated book to a bookstore. 😵 It really interferes with the reading experience: One time I found both volumes of Beauvoir’s the second sex, with the first chapter of volume I filled with the previous owner’s looked-up English translation. That was the only reason I didn’t buy them. But like I said I have no issue with annotations. Sometimes I even read what people have to say about a particular passage if there’s any. That’s the bonus for buying used books besides the price 🥳

Right because it happens in real life, you'll be at a bar or any where public and you'll see an attractive man but don't instantly feel a pool of liquid heart burning in the pit of your stomach. haha. You'll probably get a little blushed if your eyes meet at most and then continue with your day. But the instant need to devour that man is unreal especially when the girls in these sort of books tend to be less experienced or "innocent". Doesn't happen.
For men I understand the "attraction" sort of. But then we get hit with I wanted to protect her, to make her mine. Sir you don't know her....why?
Some books can pull this off but it is very rare.
