Boris Pahor erzählt in Nekropolis seine Erinnerungen aus den Konzentrationslagern Natzweiler-Struthof, Dachau, Harzungen und Bergen-Belsen. Dabei schreibt er aus dem selbst Erlebten heraus, dokumentiert aber auch die Schicksale seiner Bekanntschaften. Der Unmenschlichkeit des Erlebtem setzt er den Lebenswillen und die Erfahrung der menschlichen Solidarität im Moment der größten Hoffnungslosigkeit entgegen.
