Killua | 364 comments I know it might sound weird but I really want to start reading fantasy and I tried some popular fantasy books from the library (legends and lattes, blood&honey,) but I just don't like them but I love fantasy book covers so much and I'm to broke to buy a book just for a cover, so I also want to like the book so I need some recommendations. I important thing is that I don't like alot of smut, romance is okay but not those descriptive, disturbing scenes lol

Nafsika | 14 comments Have you tried Caraval? Twilight is a good one too, but my favourite one is six of crows

Carrie Ko | 1 comments I'm not much for fantasy either but enjoyed "The House in the Cerulean Sea" by T.J. Klune.

Hollie Aldridge | 25 comments Pathfinders Way by TA White is a good adventure fantasy with some romance (it is the adventure that makes the book awesome).
Most anything by Tamora Pierce. Her writing is considered YA but I reread most of her work every year due to it being a favorite.
Dealing with Dragons is hilarious but also a little YA. No real romance. So good though.
Anything by Ilona Andrews is awesome! I love their Inn Keeper series, as well as Kate Daniels.
I have more recommendations, but let's see if what is here hits the mark.

Shawna Finnigan (sugoishawn) | 120 comments Definitely give Divine Rivals. It's very light on the fantasy elements so it's perfect for people who aren't huge fantasy fans

Ashley Jae | 11 comments I don't read a lot of fantasy either, but I've read the Red Rising series for a friend & I will say, each book has been better. It's been kinda cool watching the author grow into it.

Also, I guess it's more sci-fi, but Constance was one of the favorite books I read a couple of years ago & the sequel Chance was good, but idk when the 3rd book will be released, so if you're impatient like me, you may want to wait lol

Samia Tasneem (semi-hiatus) | 20 comments The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black is best for you.

Nikita Canet | 27 comments From Blood and Ash is fantasy but to me it felt very subtle. It was an enjoyable start to my love for fantasy. Then I read Throne of Glass and now I'm hooked. Both of those inadvertently taught me about culture, relationships, passion, self discovery and embracing change.

Miren | 38 comments Half a Soul - Olivia Atwater (very cute and light)
Anything by Neil Gaiman (he writes many stand-alones so you don’t have to commit to a series)
The Emperor’s Soul - Brandon Sanderson (this is a novella and a great intro to the high fantasy genre)
