I'm gonna try this one day and I'm gonna fail

Reading as many books as possible in 24 hours is a ridiculous endeavor. So you can breeze through all of Dr. Seuss or Dick and Jane in that time--so friggin' WHAT??
Counting our books is purely an Amazon ploy to encourage us to keep BUYING. In the same vein, speedreading misses so much of a book's best parts, those that require some meditation on their meaning, their metaphor, or simply their beauty and structure
The best book I read in 2023 was We, the Drowned, at 688 pages. Those who bypass such great works because of their page length do themselves--and our culture--a terrible dissservice, because it encourages readers to read less important, even trivial works, just to augment their numbers. "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." (UNCF's iconic motto)
