I'm starting a 24 hour book challenge today I haven't read anything yet this year so let's see how many books I can read in 24 hours

I finished (one of us is next) in 1 hour and 45 minutes!!! so 22 hours and 15 minutes to go
I hope you had fun with your challenge, Killua! I've never done a challenge like that before (I'm old and need sleep, LOL).
I'm not done yet actually im not reading for 24 hours straight. I just put on a timer everytime I start a book and when I finish the book I stop the timer and read until I've reach 24 hours in total
I just finished the book (finding audrey) it took me 2 hours and 55 minutes.
This is such a good idea I should try this sometime
it's really fun actually, I have around 9 tbr book and I wrote the names of the books on a piece of paper and folw them as tiny as possible and put them in a jar and everyday before I go to bed I pick one of the papers and read which book I'm gonna read in the morning so that (1) I have something to be excited for in the morning and (2) I can finish my tbr list

yess try it its fun!! I dont know how long im being able to do this before I fail but so far I've read 4 hours and 40 minutes

Just yesterday (01/05/'24) The Atlantic published an article distinctly relevant here: Against Counting the Books You Read: The number of titles you finish in a year says little about your actual reading habits, by Emma Sarappo. Much worse, the number you can read in any number of hours! This is INANE.Reading as many books as possible in 24 hours is a ridiculous endeavor. So you can breeze through all of Dr. Seuss or Dick and Jane in that time--so friggin' WHAT??
Counting our books is purely an Amazon ploy to encourage us to keep BUYING. In the same vein, speedreading misses so much of a book's best parts, those that require some meditation on their meaning, their metaphor, or simply their beauty and structure
The best book I read in 2023 was We, the Drowned, at 688 pages. Those who bypass such great works because of their page length do themselves--and our culture--a terrible dissservice, because it encourages readers to read less important, even trivial works, just to augment their numbers. "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." (UNCF's iconic motto)
what time is it for yall. (im not trying to be weird lol) I just though that maby if we have the same time zone we could like pick a book tommorow morning at 11 and say here what book we picked and do the challenge togheter

day 3 of this challenge and n I've finished the book (two can keep a secret) in 4 hours and 26 minutes
but for real how long does it take for you to finish a 400 page book. and why are you restarting?
a couple hours or days and because my timer messed up
that sucks i hope it works next time I've read 3 books so far but right now im in my murder mystery phase but i only have romance books left in my tbr and im kind of unmotivated lol

I just finished ( the lesbianas guide to catholic school) btw best flicking book ever!!!! it took 5 hours and 9 minutes
