Those are two I would recommend, along with Ablutions.

Bob Comet, in his 7th decade and a retired librarian finds a lost woman one day and returns her to a home for the elderly where she resides. Bob decided, most out of character for him, to volunteer at the home.
deWitt then takes us back through Bob's life and we meet Connie (his Ex-wife) and Ethan (his Ex-best friend) and other quirky characters that entered and exited his life. The authors sense of humor is dry and unconventional and either you get it or you don't. I absolutely get it and love it. Smirk-level humor, not laugh out loud funny-just my cup of tea.
I was a little surprised that the encounter with June and Ida was such a big portion of the story, though I did enjoy those two characters. I think de Witt took us there to show how our journey in life can be filled with the most unexpected people and what an impact those people can have. The last "surprise" of the book was really that, I won't say anymore, so as not to spoil for anyone else-but those who have read it know what I am talking about. In true deWitt style the story just ends-leaving you wondering, leaving you thinking. Love that about this author. Love this author.
