Elle :) | 17 comments okay bet! i’m not the biggest historical fiction reader but i will say the book thief by markus zusak is a classic. in high school i was a huge musical nerd, so i was inspired to read the other boleyn girl by philippa gregory (based off of anne boleyn, king henry viii’s second wife). idk if you’re into classics, but you can never go wrong with pride and prejudice by jane austin. these violent delights by chloe gong is a mix of fantasy and historical fiction which i really enjoyed if you’re willing to look into that. as for realistic fiction, i have a few more suggestions (most of them ya): hani and ishu’s guide to fake dating by adiba jaigirdar, starworld by audrey coulthurst and paula garner, the love and lies of rukhsana ali by sabina khan, she gets the girl by rachel lippincott and alyson derrick, it’s not like it’s a secret by misa suguira, and the joy luck club by amy tan (this one isn’t a love story at all, just tells the stories of different generations of women within a community but i like it a lot!). idk if you want any mlm recs, but meet cute diary by emery lee, autoboyography by christina lauren, and like a love story by abdi nazeman are pretty good realistic fiction (tho ig like a love story is more historical since it’s set during the aids crisis) and the gentleman’s guide to vice and virtue by mackenzi lee is a good historical fiction (and i believe the sequel has an aroace female protag). circe by madeline miller is also good! it’s like a mixture of fantasy and historical fiction because it’s based off of a greek myth. :)
