message 51: by Amy (new) - rated it 4 stars

My son goes to Indiana Bloomington, which I think is kind of in the middle of the state on the East Coast. Like I think they use that Cincinnati airport, which is actually in Kentucky. Although every time we have flown and we’ve flown into Indianapolis. Anyway Bloomington is a very interesting place and they have for sure a bunch of Jewish delis and is really food.

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments Bloomington is southern Indiana. Indianapolis, our capital and my hometown is central more or less.

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments Bloomington is only 45min away from Indy. Most Hoosiers (people from Indiana) would just fly out of Indy.

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments Cincinnati is 2 hours away so I’ve never heard of anyone going all the way out there to fly somewhere.

When I replied last week I was using my phone, not so user friendly, so I was typing something then remember something then add another message and eventually gave up. 🤣
And I input emojis in explanation of Hoosier landscape and travel etc, but they didn't come through so reading it now it looks kinda rude and angry 😮 Was supposed to be more like "hahaha, I am Indiana expert lemme explain" (add emojis) 😋

Anyway, I am so close to the end of this book, will probably finish this weekend. I plan to read the discussion and reviews after that.

I didn't immediately love this as much as Deacon King Kong, but I think I will end up at 5 stars. It is so immersive. There is a lot of commentary about different side characters that as I caught on to the format / style I was able to appreciate it more. I could see reading this again for a future book club.

McBride has to be one of my favorite authors.

Amy | 12953 comments I wasn’t bothered by your emojis in the least! I actually like the flair. So glad you loved the book. This is my fourth by McBride. I did like it too. I think I just always get leery when a book is very highly touted. I still think 3.8 is right on for me.
