Jayme | 4519 comments Janice glad you are back safe and sound, and no worries about us. Tend to yourself and your dad. Thinking of you.

yikes. not fun. Glad you made it without missing your last flight. I hope your dad gets better fast.

Saar The Book owl | 2650 comments I don't know what the co-workers do as a coping mechanism for losing animals or dealing with animal abuse. I hadn't got the time to ask yet. What I always do with animals that died, even the ones that I didn't personally knew, is stroking their paw and wishing them a safe journey. It might seems silly, but that helps in a way.

@Janice: happy to hear that you had a great time with your sister, even if the traveling was an ordeal. I hope your dad gets better fast.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments Sorry for being a little awol for a bit. I've been reading posts, just not really having the time to comment.

Janice, I am so glad you got away and had a great time with your sister. I'm sorry to hear your Dad isn't doing well though. Hope you get down to spend some time with him, and he's doing a lot better.

message 358: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments Thanks Rusalka.

I've been working like crazy to get my work commitments met because I feel anxious to get down to see Dad. I've decided I will drive myself and leave on Tuesday morning. My sister just texted and said that he seems more clear today. Yesterday, he thought it was July 1973.

message 360: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments Our Prime Minister resigned today, out of the blue. We're all shocked and there's loads of speculation. He said it was for both personal and political reasons. I'll miss him, Leo was favourite leader and he did us proud during covid and brexit.

message 361: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3029 comments Wow, what a surprise Margo 😳

message 362: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19138 comments I'm sorry to hear that, Margo. It's so disappointing when you have someone in office that you like and they leave, especially unexpectedly. I'm sure there's a lot of speculation around why because it seems unplanned the way it was done. I'm also sure that eventually more info will come out as to why.

Kristie | 19138 comments I am getting a new Kindle! :) My current Kindle is over 10 years old and I have been having a difficult time with charging it. I have been going back and forth about whether to spend money on a new one or wait to see how long I can manage to keep this one working. I was able to get this one to charge last night, but it wasn't done when I woke up this morning. I think it took about 12 hours to finish charging. I mentioned it to my husband this morning (really just complaining about it starting to die) and he bought me a new one for my birthday (which isn't for another month)! He came in and told be not to buy one because he already had. 😁 I'm so excited for it! It feels like Christmas. lol

Oh, that is unexpected. I'm sorry he is going if he is someone you liked, Margo.

That is great, Kristie! It was hard for me to assume my kindle was dying too. I was always finding an excuse to give it a little more time, but the poor thing had way too many issues.

message 366: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19138 comments Thanks, Sandra. I love my Kindle so I'll be sad to see it go, but is a lot easier to take knowing there is a new one on the way.

That's great Kristie! I bet he feels good too, it's brilliant when you know exactly what someone wants for a pressie. My daughter dropped her phone last week and it's her birthday next week so guess what I'm buying her for her birthday! I'm happy because she is the hardest person to buy for that I've ever come across.

message 368: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19138 comments Yes, Margo. I think he has a hard time with gifts so he's probably thrilled with the timing. haha That worked out well for you too!

message 369: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments I dislike Christmas shopping so much! It is stressful to think what to buy for everyone at the same time...

message 370: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I hadn't heard Margo, that's disappointing!

Thats exciting about the new kindle Kristie!

I have been asked last minute to teach the saturday morning class at the hypnotherapy college I've been working at for a while. My first time teaching. Exciting times! I am a little nervous though. Had my haircut today which I've desperately needed for a while. I wasnt getting on very well at my last hairdressers due to some sensory issues so have been putting it off but went somewhere new today and had a good experience. And then got the fan beltmon my car replaced. So I'm all set for the weekend.

message 371: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19138 comments Thanks, Sarah. I'm super happy about it and can't wait for it to arrive. :)

That's exciting, your first time teaching! I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes. I'm glad you found a new hairdresser that you're happy with. Finding your people (hairdressers, doctors, etc) can be really difficult. I went through several different people for my hair when I first moved here and I'm finally happy with the one I have now.

Saar The Book owl | 2650 comments That's a great surprise from your husband, Kristie! I'm sure you'll enjoy it :)

How did your first time teaching went, Sarah?

message 374: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments The teaching went really well, thank you. I enjoyed it very much. They were engaged, it was interactive, they answered all my questions and they asked lots too. A nice bunch of students. I don't think it could have gone much better, if I'm honest. Now, if it was a different topic, that might be different, but i taught something that i use a lot with clients so felt confident with it.

message 375: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I decided to take my glasses back yesterday. I just couldn't get used to them. They were causes me a lot of eyestrain and pain when reading. Computer screen seemed ok. I just dont like the variable lense. So I'll wait until my next eye test as they said i was on the edge of needing new ones anyway.

Kristie | 19138 comments I'm glad your teaching day went so well, Sarah. I hope you are able to get your glasses sorted soon. It can be very frustrating trying to get the right prescription.

Jenn | 3029 comments I’m so glad that your teaching day went so well 🎉 and I agree that being so comfortable with the material probably made it more enjoyable for all concerned 😁

I had my 8 month check in with my surgeon this morning and have finally been released from my non-bendy restrictions, so now am - very slowly - starting to stretch for my toes 🎉

message 387: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments Yesterday was a sad day for my family. My father died late afternoon. My brother, sister, and I will be making plans over the next few days. We have family all over Canada and the States that will be travelling, so we won't have the funeral this coming week. My participation in the group will likely be sporadic for the next couple of weeks. The other mods will field any questions you may have over the challenges.

I'm grateful that I was able to visit my dad last week and to say my goodbyes to him. He was one week shy of his 95th birthday.

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments My son is coming for supper - Hawaiian Sausages (a sweet and sour dish with pineapple). I even baked a cake this morning. I surprised myself and had it out of the oven before 9:00.
