message 452: by Fiona (new)

Fiona | 1148 comments Thanks everyone for having your fingers crossed!

The doctor called me and told me that there is nothing to see from his field but that I have a few cysts.
When I told him that my pain got worse and that there's still a lot of cracking in that area, he suggested for me to come to his office again. Will go on Friday, let's see if he can find something.

Saar The Book owl | 2650 comments @Janice: that's a lovely way to stay connected with your family when living so spread out and you all share the same passion.

@Kirstie: I hope you enjoyed the wedding.

@Sarah: tha sounds like a good plan. That first year for you went so fast!

@Fiona: In meanwhile, can you take some painkillers? Maybe the cracking comes from your joints? But that could be seen on the scan. I hope you get some anwers Friday.

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments I hope is not serious and you feel better soon, Christine.

I've been also MIA lately, since I'm in the last days of the semester. My last exam in on the 30th. I'm busy and exhausted. Maybe more exhausted than busy. Although it could be more busy than exhausted. I don't know... I'll be making more sense on May 1st, hopefully!

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments Catching up on all the replies.

Janice, a family book club sounds like a lovely thing to develop. Particularly as we know your Dad would have joined right in. Let us know how it goes. I'm glad everything went well, even if it was a bit draining with all the people.

Hope your hip starts feeling better soon, Fiona.

Good luck to all of you on the home straight for the academic year! I hope all your essays and assignments click, and the exam fairies look upon you nicely :D

Hope your cold has cleared up, Christine.

So far, there are only 3 of us in the group. Once my sister gets home from her cruise in Mexico, she can send out invites to her readers. I don't have the emails addresses.

Jayme | 4519 comments Went away this weekend on a hiking trip for our 39th anniversary. Completed our 6 mile hike and literally walking off the path to the car i did a face plant. Saved my face, but sacrificed my hands. ended up in the ER. Left hand is bandaged because of abrasions, but i can type. Right hand is another story. It's in a splint, swollen and I am now waiting for the hand orthopedic surgeon's office to open to schedule an appt. So glad I finished the baby blankets i was knitting before we left.
I think the next hiking trip I will wear bubble wrap!

message 469: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments Oh, Jayme, I'm so sorry! It sounds painful. I hope you feel better soon. Bubble wrap is not a bad idea! And congrats on your anniversary. ♥️

message 470: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments Ah Jayme, that's a disaster! It's one way to make sure you'll never forget your wedding anniversary - be careful what you plan for your 40th ;-p

I hope you get good news from the surgeon and that the damage isn't too bad 😘

message 471: by Jayme, Moderator (new)

Jayme | 4519 comments Thanks for your well wishes. Have an appt this afternoon I'd cross my fingers but...

message 472: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19138 comments Oh no, Jayme! I hope you heal quickly. I did something similar years ago, but with ankles. Finished an obstacle course, then slipped on loose gravel while walking on the ground. Glad you were able to finish the blankets first! Let us know how your appt goes.

message 473: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19138 comments We went away for the weekend for my birthday, so I spent the last couple of days at the beach. The weekend went much too fast. I am currently packing to head home. (Yes, this is me packing. lol) I'm glad we'll be home fairly early today. Last time we traveled we didn't get in until around midnight and it was very tiring.

message 474: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments Happy birthday, Kristie! And safe returns.

Glad you had a great birthday weekend.

message 479: by Fiona (new)

Fiona | 1148 comments Oh no, Jayme! Have a speedy recovery!!

My hip situation has been diagnosed, the muscle is pretty f'd up, that's why it hurts and cracks. I've been prescribed with physiotherapy and lots of yoga.

message 480: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments Oh Jayme! I hope it is all very superficial. But good work on the story front.

Glad you're home Kirstie and that you had a lovely weekend. Rest up.

Good to hear you have answers Fiona. Sounds much better that you thought.

I hope it works, Fiona!

message 482: by Fiona (new)

Fiona | 1148 comments It's definitely better than I thought and so far it's helping a little. I just think it will be a lot of work to get to a point where it doesn't hurt anymore

message 483: by Jayme, Moderator (new)

Jayme | 4519 comments Well nothing is broken 🎉 Just a lot of soft tissue damage, bruising and soreness. I was told to clear my schedule this week and not use my right hand (was also given exercises to start next week).

Bummer... I was so looking forward to spring cleaning my house. 😉
Now to figure out a way to prop up my book.

message 484: by Fiona (new)

Fiona | 1148 comments Good that nothing is broken!
I hope you're not in too much pain and that you'll find a way to prop up your book. Since the cleaning won't be happening.. maybe use a stack of dirty dishes? haha

message 485: by Christine (new)

Christine Hatfield | 907 comments HAPPY MAY EVERYONE!

message 486: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments What a relief, Jayme! It is great to know it is not broken so it will heal faster and with less chances of complications. And... who needs spring cleaning... :P

message 487: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19138 comments lol, Jayme! Too bad about that spring cleaning. 😉 I'm glad nothing is broken and hope it feels better quickly.

message 489: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments That's great news Jayme - as you say, real bummer about the cleaning 🤣

message 490: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments I hope it heals quickly, Jayme. Spring cleaning will wait. I can't imagine getting excited about spring cleaning. I do need to think about de-cluttering.

message 491: by Saar The Book owl (new)

Saar The Book owl | 2650 comments I hope you'll heal fast, Jayme and like you said, time to read some books! That spring cleaning can wait ;)

Happy birthday, Sarah and it seems you've had a lovely weekend.

@Fiona, will your hip heal with the therapy or will it stay sore?

message 492: by Fiona (new)

Fiona | 1148 comments It should heal after some time but right now it's still sore and still cracking a lot which really hurts

message 493: by Christine (new)

Christine Hatfield | 907 comments I was sick again with a huge rash all over my body and the reason why that happened was because I was on an antibiotic for my sinus infection and I was in the sun so I’m on Benadryl right now

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments I hope you feel better soon, Christine.

Sarah | 18550 comments Did anyone who doesn't usually see the aurora where they live, see it at the weekend? I am gutted to have missed it. I knew there was a large solar storm due but not when. Then i woke up saturday morning early to go to Bournemouth for work and saw all the photos on facebook. Boooo.

We've had a little mini heatwave here in the UK, was really lovely down in Bournemouth, but in true British fashion, everyone there was bright red. Thankfully not me.

I went to see a talk by John Gough who wrote Tolkien's autobiography on monday evening. He talked about Tolkien, the mythology he created and the world of LOTR. It was rewlly interesting. My boyfriend is a massive Tolkien fan and knew quite a bit of the stuff but still enjoyed it.
