I hope it's not a ripoff of Black Company.
Which I totally failed in continuing with the group. XD

I grabbed it. Let me know when. I also failed after book 3 on Black Company. Been slumping pretty hard
I'm abandoning Black Company after 3.5 as a good pause point with the original trilogy and aftermath plot complete... I just don't love the series

Yea... the first half started to drag on me... I thought things got alot better in the 2nd half, tho, as the Nox plot kicked into gear, and other things happened...
In my head, Nox was spelled Knox, lol... like Knoxville... don't know why I defaulted to that making the most sense :D

I agree that Knox is how I would have thought it was spelled if I was doing the audio version.
I liked how it ended with Nox but (view spoiler)

Brian, ready when you are! Let me know when and I'll start with you. Going to get the ebook on KU and may take my time to read it. XD

You haven't been reading Dead Tired with us, have you?... that leaf pun was tame in comparison :D

I have been reading Dead Tired but at least bone daddy is known for his puns. This one just seemed out of place in comparison.

Harold the Lich in Dead Tired does puns all the time and his resurrected minion calls him Bone Daddy
And the human MC in demonic tree considers the Demon Tree to be her dad at this point, considering how their relationship started when she was a child and her father had died... tree saved her many times... and they started a cultivation sect together, with tree in charge... works on many levels...

Self-delusion is scary!
About a week ago, I found a dead "bee" in the door frame between my deck door & storm door.
Then a few days later, I killed a "bee" that somehow got into the house on the deck windows.
This morning, I was running around the house doing stuff and I heard buzzing in the kitchen. Found a "bee" and I worked awkwardly to smash the "bee" on the kitchen window. Ended up spraying it to death. Cause I don't have a fly swatter. I ordered a pair & will have two soon.
So... bees are preferable to wasps.
Turns out I killed a yellow jacket wasp on deck window and a balded faced hornet in the kitchen this morning.
Cause I would prefer bees over wasps.
I hope the pesticide people are prepped to work on the roof/etc. I think that's where the nests are.

Hey Soo... where do you get your page counts for all these big Light Novels you read?...
I know/saw you had to create some of the book pages for some, since nobody else had before, earlier this year.
And the only book page I can find for one of your most recent ones that I was curious about was delisted by Goodreads and lacked much info:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
The Rebirth of Han Yuxi (not 100% sure if this link will work, I handcrafted it after finding that book page with google, GR search gave no results)...

LN Page Counts Are Low Ball Average
Generally way less than actual word count to print page average. There's give and take on machine translation vs fan translation. Good fan translations will be 1.5-3x longer than original Chinese cause of contextual writing.
(view spoiler)
Can't take info on any of the LN posts seriously cause information isn't always accurate. There's a bunch of reasons, but I want a post for the GR challenge & to record when I read the series.
Sometimes I can't find full info, I look up the original Chinese/etc & use page translate to get chapter counts, year it is finished as a series, etc
Existing GR LN posts are either auto created based on Kindle stuff or user posts from people with incomplete info.
I dug through my entire Audible library, all night, and now have a decently accurate wishlist of 500+ books to buy to fill out my collection on series I've started owning on Audible... probably would need to add 100-200 more, if they weren't freely available on Audible Plus at the moment...
Still need to pick and choose, but nice to have an accurate record for once...

I'm very good at being relatively caught up, and way behind, at the same time...
Only 2 days behind on BRs, but that's still 5-6 books, 2500-3000 pages and 80-90hrs of audio...

At least I finished my reading veggies for the month, and most of the rest is cake...
DCC5, Rip Through Time 3, Joesph Bridgeman 4, Green Creek 4, Malevolent Seven... should all be 4-5 stars...

I wanted a fluffy read for my flight home yesterday so started book 1, Witchy Whiskers. I like it so far. I'm about 70% through. Our lead, Cora, is an air witch who runs a magical candle shop. The candles cause various illusions when they're lit. Anyway, a hot guy new in town enters her shop looking to buy his mom a present and the next day he's the main suspect in his brother's murder. It's not turned into a romance yet but it easily could. If you're interested, I'll keep you updated. I will finish it today.
I refound #1-3 box set for $3.58... 4-6 and 7-9 don't have ebook listings to drop the whispersync price... feel free to keep me updated, tho...

Results of pesticides inspection:
- 2 Wasp Nests
- 1 Hornet Nest
- Carpenter Bees living underside of wooden deck.
Stuff got treated & I need to keep an eye out for future troubles.
Also found dead yellow jacket wasps (smaller than the one I killed) inside the basement room. Technician said I probably killed the yellow jacket wasp queen.
I am thankful that I didn't get stung by any of these. In this case, glad I didn't know the other yellow jackets were in the house and they died on their own.
I don't worry about bees, but the wasps & hornets would suck if I got stung. Plus, if I did kill the queen, at least that's one nest I don't have to worry about.
Month is pretty much over, and my stats are down... technically...
January (31) -- 23,684pgs -- 764 pgs/day -- 54 books -- 715h 22m
February (28) -- 25,043pgs -- 894 pgs/day -- 60 books -- 726h 30m
March (31) -- 23,658pgs -- 763 pgs/day -- 56 books -- 680h 52m
April (30) -- 22,416pgs -- 747 pgs/day -- 48 books -- 677h 10m
Few less books and pages for April, but basically the same hours listened... I'm only 3 books behind, at the end of the month, which is decent... I think part of it was how much/little I wanted to read some of the books, and how many I listened to with battery draining apps that required me to charge my ipod for an hour... and how much time I spent watching youtube and listening to Pandora comedy from 10-15 years ago...

It's new place weirdness man. New place weirdness. I've never had so many bug issues happen at the same time.
hahaha
Tonight, Goodreads & Audible were inaccessible for about 30min.
Yesterday, I had issues with GR not loading or saving posts.

Hahhaha!
Cause the MC is named Luke Daniels.
I was like... Luke Daniels (the narrator) is in a story???
LOL!!! I was so confused for a second.
Narrated by Scott Brick :(
Would have been so funny if they found out too late, and then got narrator Luke Daniels to narrate...

Finally cleaned up my account, and left all the groups I'm not really active in... went from 10ish groups to 4... also means I left all the groups that send me monthly newsletters I don't read to my Goodreads Mailbox...
A few of the groups were literally dead, apparently... hadn't had a new comment in a year or more... some groups I'd never commented in in nearly a decade of being a member... others had a few comments... highest had less than 150...

Not enough time in a day! XD
I only really participate here 99% and GG&G 1%... and stay in the Librarian group in case I need it for some reason...

I'm eagerly awaiting #4 later this year... I agree they're not as good as Beware of Chicken, and I didn't enjoy binging multiple back-to-back last year and needed a long break in between to enjoy #3 more...

RachelG. wrote: "I still need to read Beware of Chicken. I'm loving Demon Boba Shop. The past couple have really made me tear up because they have touching parts."
I see there's 5 ebooks on KU, and the first 2 just came out on Audible in the past 5 weeks, so I'll give them a try... also a finished series...

Iain, I remember you saying this. Rachel, I also thought that Heretical Fishing 2 wasn't as good as 1 though still enjoyable. I'm only a few chapters in and liking #3 a lot so far. I do think Iain is right - this series benefits from several month break between. I'll post back here periodically :)
Next year's Orphan X has a name: Antihero
Will be reading Nemesis next month in the BR thread... still haven't had time to read the new Gray Man that came out in March: Midnight Black

Iain, have you noticed if the author has stated how many books this series is intended to be?
