The Gate of the Feral Gods ch 19. Wow! That really changed things. (view spoiler)[Carl found a way to fight back against the system!!! And no one really knows for sure, that was so well played. I really hope to see more of this :) "You will not break me. I will break you." He seems to have a shot.

Hell, now I"m rethinking the need to kill Lucia Mar. If she wasn't insane they could possibly work together. Not that they can say or type anything as part of planning. That would be a very tough one. I could also see Carl enlisting the NPCs. Ok, Lucia still needs to go. (hide spoiler)]

General book and series commentary now that I'm at ~50% of The Gate of the Feral Gods (view spoiler)[For a group of aliens who supposedly studied humanity for all those year to prepare for this Crawl, they seem to underestimate humans. Lucia Mar was already able to kill 3 admins before the 5th floor? Seems to me the aliens should be really looking at the classes each person chose for insight into their psyche. Carl is fully the Anarchist of his class and Donut is really hamming up the child actor of her class to the point that both are more than just a game class. Each has been forced to embrace those qualities to survive so it's not surprising that Carl is fighting the system. That's what anarchists do.

Since I've had more time to think about that last chapter... and the guy who interviewed them was one of those brain parasites, perhaps Lucia Mar didn't get away with her kills as clean as it first appears. (hide spoiler)]

I just finished the Age of Madness trilogy by Joe Abercrombie and I feel as though it may be the most bittersweet ending to a trilogy I've ever read. The wait until whenever the author decides to write the next trilogy for his First Law world is going to be brutal since I can't get enough of that world!

With First Law, he generally writes the whole trilogy before releasing anything...

I hear you... have you read Kings of the Wyld? The characters aren't exactly gritty, more... well, like a 1970s rock band if they were a fantasy-world mercenary band, with a great dose of humor, but it's the first thing I thought of (for some reason) when reading your comment...

@Brian, if you haven't already, check out John Gwynne's books. While not the same as Joe Abercrombie, his books are relatively similar in style.

I'm ready for my new neighbors to become my ex-neighbors... I dunno if they're new neighbors, or just gained a new annoying friend, but this guy is driving me up the wall... he's either an angry drunk, on drugs, or crazy, cause he's constantly instigating arguments and noisiness outside at all hours of the day and night... but it's so inconsistent and sporadic... 10-20-30 minutes outside, then 40-50-75 minutes inside, for hours on end... they were doing it from 3-7am a few days ago, were outside when I left for work at 3:50am this morning, and have been noisy off and on from 1-4pm since I got home, partially hampered by the heavy rainstorms passing through...

I thought the noisy kids of the past were bad... I miss them, at this point... kids are just playing, this dude is telling his friends he's gonna kill them...

I used to know exactly where my lease was, now I think it's in a storage tub somewhere, from my month living out of a hotel from the water last year...

Donut got some exp but upset she didn't get a boss box since she stayed on the surface lol And I guess sharktopus is copyright so they're octosharks? I can't wait to see what Carl got in that gold boss box. I'm not sure I like the live event format. Seems like it would be super distracting for the crawlers trying to stay alive. But so many views...

And they won a litigation x7! Were they all about the feral gods? Seems like that's when it happened - when he got the final part of the gate.

I'm sad for Juice Box and the other NPCs as they wake up to their reality. It is helping build the story that they could help Carl's overall goal in the future though I'm not sure how. (hide spoiler)]
