Tonari no Emily (emlfem) | 5115 comments So Ive got about a 45 min commute and this morning there was a fatality on the highway i take not too far ahead of me. Theyve closed north and southbound lanes and Ive not moved in about 2 and half hours now. Almost everyone is just out of their cars on the highway... this is insane

Years and years ago... 5th grade field trip to the Saint Louis Zoo... Spring 1998?...

We went to the zoo, while we were at the zoo or shortly into the trip home, a freight truck went off the big highway overpass and damaged a support strut... we were stuck for hours, had to eventually detour into downtown Saint Louis and take city streets to get across town and out of town to get back on the highway and return home... had to use some emergency school budget to get everyone McDonald's for dinner and got back to school at like 7-8pm to be sent home with parents... otherwise, woulda gotten back to school around the end of the school day 3-4pm, I think...

Vivid memory, 25 years later... bring it up occasionally...

Tonari no Emily (emlfem) | 5115 comments Yeah so I left my house at 6 AM yesterday and didn't make it to work till 1130 AM...
I had to leave my car and cross the closed freeway to use the restroom at a McDonalds because I was drinking my morning coffee and couldn't hold it any more💀 ..
0/10 do not recommend getting trapped on a highway

Today on my way to work there was another accident and for a time I wasn't moving, but it only made me 10 minutes late 🤡 I was seriously about to panic that it was happening again

Oh yikes, that sounds terrifying... makes me glad I live in a part of the world where a 10-15 minute commute to work with bad traffic is considered long... and the people who come in from the Valley with an hour long commute are seen as Hard Core.

Ick. Come to think of it, most of the freeways in my area have been under construction of one form or another for as long as I've lived here. I'm very glad to not have any commute since I primarily work from home now. I definitely don't miss the traffic.

I'm deleting as many BRs from my plan as possible, at this point, without abandoning the ones I'm super committed to... the goal was to reach 500 pages/day... still at 550... not sure I can delete anything else...

Would it help to table the series that just you and me are BRing, Iain? I think we might be the only ones going through Kushiel and Black Jewels at this point. Those can easily be delayed. Maybe just wrap up the Kushiel trilogy and look to move the rest later...

Probably, yea... delay Kushiel 4-9 until the Fall... leave Twilight's Dawn in June even tho we read Shalador duology completely in April... decide when to schedule the newer Black Jewels books later (Fall, again?)... I definitely read more from About September/October to March/April, I think...

Sure thing, I'll make notes in my tracker. Might be a good idea to postpone Twilight's Dawn too, since the introduction of the High Lord's Daughter short is really the start of the new series.

I'll leave myself a note to poke folks about Imriel trilogy and Black Jewels new stuff in August. Maybe folks will be more interested in joining then...

EDIT: eh, I went ahead and asked folks now for fall, will poke again later too if don't get much of a response.

You know... I'm not that behind so far, in May... looking at my spreadsheet today, after burying my head in the sand all week... and I'm only like 5 books behind... because everything starts stacking up tomorrow for the next 2 weeks...

In more LitRPG news, The Daily Grind 4: A Slice-of-Life LitRPG came out yesterday, and The Daily Grind 5: A Slice-of-Life LitRPG is scheduled for October release on Audible...

Amelia the Level Zero Hero Book 3 came out 2 weeks ago...

Dead Tired 2 came out yesterday... Sporemageddon: Volume 3: Penicillium came out 2 weeks ago (and doesn't seem to have a goodreads link I can find)...

That's all I can think to check, right now...

I have a feeling you guys might catch up with us on Dungeon Crawler Carl, just in time to wait for book 7 to come out...

Just finished #5 today and it was alot of fun... more insanity... things are getting more and more dangerous with each book... somehow... every book seems unsurvivable, honestly... not very fair... but the more we learn about The Superiority, the more everything seems horrible, even outside the dungeon...

With DCC 5 and Warm Hands of Ghosts done, I've finally made it to my May BRs... I read Magic Slays the other day, but I have plenty of others on my backlog and in the coming week...

Just cleared out my finished books from iTunes and Audible, and downloaded 6 books from Audible, and transferred 4 books from iTunes, to go with the 4 books on Hoopla... just need to grab 1 more on Hoopla tomorrow, and I'm good till the 15th... busy week... at least have are short/quick reads...

When you two started, there was talk of trying to catch up... with only a few weeks to go until the last released book BR, I figured you guys would probably be late to the party for exactly that reason... but maybe not too too late... "Paula Late"... 3-4 weeks max...

Surprised I've gotten so much reading done the past few days... big boss talked me into going into work 2hrs early the past 2 days... messing with my sleep/body cycles... opted to leave early at the 8-8.5hr mark instead of stay overtime to regular end of shift... was completing some projects best done this way... been failing to find time during regular shifts the past 3 weeks for these projects... ready for my weekend already...

2am to 10:30-11am shifts, instead of 4am-12:30pm... just me and one mid-tier boss in the building/working together, since safety requires a minimum of 2 people at all times... and I don't have security codes anyway...
