(TRIGGER WARNING; GORE AND IDK- HORROR HORROR THEMES)
Sweat rolls down my brow, as long bony hands untie the blindfold covering my eyes. I glanced nervously around, seeing the dark forest and the circle of candles, multiple dark hooded figures, standing in front of each one. Inside the circle of candles was a tall, thick, wooden stake, and sitting at its base was a pile of ropes. The bony handed figure shoved me towards the circle, my panicked cries, muffled by the cloth she had stuffed into my mouth. One of the hooded figures disappeared for a moment before reappearing with a small chair.
The person shoved me into it, hard enough to bruise. God, if I survived this I would kill Emmit. He was the one who dared me to go up to the infamous mountains to see if the horrid Witch really did exist.
The figure ripped the gag out of my mouth, ripping at my gums in the process. I spat at the dark silhouette who didn't seem to notice. Moments later a voice seemed to rattle the quiet of the woods.
“Can you hear the voice of death?” a raspy voice asked.
“As a dying rainbow confronts the black cloud ahead. The whistle of wind defines the moment instead;”.
I looked around only to see an old woman, her skin a pale gray, sagging off her cheekbones as she continued her poem.
“As death begins swallowing up the dead.”
“Break for the hills,”
“Run to the valleys,”
“Climb to the mountain that will kill your suffering breath.”
Before she continued I was yanked from my seat, and dragged to the wooden pillar. It was only then when the figures who had seemed like statues had begun to move. They lifted the candles at their feet chanting something in Latin. “Ave maga montium.” The shadowy figures moved around the circle in perfect unison. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I realized I wasn't going to escape. I never would see my family again. I would never see my dog. I would never see my teachers or friends. The Witch moved towards me through the circle and lifted me with surprising strength that shocked me for just a moment before I began thrashing and screaming. I had to get out of here. I had to get out somehow. I wouldn't be some sacrifice.
“Hush girl.” The Witch said, her voice like grating metal. The smell of lavender filled my senses as my body went limp. The chants continued around me. “Ave maga montium. Ave maga montium.”
I subconsciously felt my tears pouring down, as the old woman grabbed the ropes and tied me to the stake. Suddenly the chants stopped and the figures were back to their places, as still as stone. The Witch continued her poem.
“Remember when life was good in your youth? Before your bones began to fail with all the abuse.
Time has halted;”
Sharp pain in my stomach erupted and she took a knife and cut down my stomach as I screamed in terror and pain.
“Your muscles have revolted.” She adds, pleasantly.
The hooded figures unmask themselves as the Witch plunges her hand into my stomach, I scream again, while all the figures start smiling. In the line of them I see a familiar one… but I can't quite make out the features. My vision is getting blurry.
“The mind shuts down while your memories defaulted.”
I blinked, making out the dark hair, and the dimples when he smiles. Emmit. My mind went blank as another wail was torn from my throat. The Witch had twisted her hand inside my insides. I couldn't think anymore. The pain was blinding as I sobbed. Pleaded. But it was no use. A bright light appeared and I reared my head towards it. Maybe someone had truly found me. Maybe I was going to live. But that hope was shattered when the Witch finished her poem.
“You, my friend, are at an end- for the rainbow you see is only pretend.”
I looked into Emmits eyes as he smiled with delight. I sobbed, “Please.”
And then everything went black.
