How Far Will He Go To Keep Them Safe?

It was more than a break-in. More than a stalking. It was personal.

When a stranger targets his wife and two daughters, journalist Jack Crittendon must uncover who the person is and what his motives are — if he's to protect the ones he loves.

The investigation leads Jack into a world of behind-closed-door secrets and into a news story about a missing pastor whose apparent suicide is more than it appears. Each move Jack makes weaves him tighter and tighter into a web of lies, greed, hypocrisy, and danger. Holding onto his faith and keeping his family safe might require Jack to cross lines he never fathomed crossing.

Fear Has a Name Fear Has a Name (The Crittendon Files #1) by Creston Mapes

Crystal | 752 comments I really loved how deep this one went! I wasn't expecting the depth or the issues it covered at all. Some of it was pretty hard to get through. I almost backed away from it when it started getting into Grangers thoughts of violence but I'm glad I stuck through it. I thought it shed really great light on child abuse, mental abuse and spiritual abuse and how that can play a role in some one becoming so unstable they become criminal.

Also...I loved how deep some of Jack and Pamelas thoughts of faith went. Like when Jack was wondering since Granger was being used for the enemy if he could just rebuke him to stay away from his family. Did that stand out to anyone else?

I'll definitely be moving on with the series. Although it was dark, I loved the role faith played. What did you guys think?

Dave Barlow (daverbarlow) | 17 comments hey everyone sorry for not being around,
my eye condition flared up to the point they called me in for surgery faster than I expected; I will be having surgery on Sunday Morning and will probably have painful eyes and blurred sight for a while longer after.

No worries Dave! Keeping you in my prayers! Praying everything goes well and you have a complete recovery!

Simone (simonec75) | 314 comments I finished the book and have to say that it was pretty good. I liked how we were able to more or less see a bird's eye view of God's way-making and miracle-working while at the same time getting a glimpse into the perspective of the characters. We usually don't see the bigger picture in our own lives until we have hindsight. This book felt a bit like a Job story with Pamela resembling Job being righteous but still being thrown into awful circumstances, yet keeping her faith and obeying God. Did anyone else feel that way?

message 14: by Crystal (new)

Crystal | 752 comments I can see that Simone! That’s a great perspective.
