Aloha and Welcome Stephanie! I do not sugar coat. You suggested I should read your book and you ask if I leave a review. I say this with all due respect. Your book has one huge sensitive topic.
I am GOP, mix, and Catholic gal. I do not agree with gay marriage. Regardless, I do not care what skin color you are or your sexuality. EVERYONE is welcome here!! 😀
For me, with my Catholic faith, it can be hard to read a sensitive topic, even if it G rated.
I say this with all due respect.

I am giving your book 4 stars for I would have like to hear more about the journals you kept and your healing journey with school.
This quote is so me:
"I haven't lived a perfect life. I have regrets. But that's from a lifetime of taking chances, making decisions, and trying not to be frozen. The only thing that I can do with my regrets is understand them. "Kevin Costner

I'm Irene *waves* I came to this group because I want to focus on two thigns this year; bringing my TBR down and read more books on mental health.
I'm not diagnosed myself, but I get anxious and stressed out now and then. My boyfriend for five years suffers from avoidant personality disorder*, so I have lots on my mind every now and then.
I'm happy to be here and get to know you all and find some great books :)
*If anyone knows about books that deals with AVPD, please let me know

Aww that is so kind of you. Thank you, thank you!

Thank you so much - that means a lot to me :)

Happy to help! If I may, hugs.🤗🎗

Happy Reading!

I love reading mental health fiction and I am looking to find like-minded people to have book club style discussion with on these types of reads. I have read many non-fiction mental health books in the past but this side of things I probably won't join in with here, mainly because I feel I now have my own mental health very much managed and controlled and so don't really need to discuss my own health. Just for the background however, I have diagnosed Bipolar, although this is very much under control but still do suffer with depression & anxiety from time to time.
Just looking for social book club discussion on mental health fiction...looks like I have come to the right place, although I am very busy and don't get much time but hope to contribute when I can. Hope this is OK :)

I only just now had the time and space to look at this book. While it isn't exactly what I wanted, I'm "enjoying" it. I'm learning so much just from the few pages that are available through Google. I might have to go out and buy it! Thank you! :)

I have suffered from Anxiety & Depression since I was 8 years old and I've found coping mechanisms to help over come my struggles and I'm proud to say my depression has decreased and is much more manageable since the middle of last year. I have mild Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and mild Bipolar Disorder since I was 15 years old. I also have Autism/ Asperger’s syndrome which I was diagnosed with at the age of 10.
I was born with a condition called Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP), but we just shorten the name to Polyposis as its easier to recite to others, the (FAP) is the strain of the condition that I have. Its a rare bowl condition that run in families and if its not treated at a young age and kept an eye on with regular hospital appointments, it will lead to bowl cancer. Treatment usually involves surgery to remove part, or all, of the large bowel which I have under gone and I haves had all my large bowl out as my colon had started to turn cancerous at the age of 15.
I will stop there as I'm sure what I've said upsets or makes you feel uncomfortable by my words and I didn't mean to be if I did as these things are apart of me and are what I've come to think as 'normal' and common place in my life, family and the Polyposis support group I'm apart of.
And I'm obsessed with books and reading and all that that entails.

Aloha Irene, Sorry. Give me time and I find some more books.
My daddy is not his best. Life can be worst.
Welcome and Aloha Katherine! No need to apologized. Say what you need anytime.

We will take a virtual hug instead. All hugs are good.

Hi! I'm Kerrie and really love reading, art (painting, sketching, photography, videography, etc) and animals. I have been diagnosed with High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder but I have been in a psyc hospital for my mental health. I used to self-harm a lot and struggle with flashbacks, depression and anxiety (mainly about people and new places). I find reading a really good tool for recovery because non-fiction books help me to learn about what's happening and to find words to explain it to others (a lot of people don't get me and my autism and then won't look after my mental health as a result) and fiction can help me to feel understood, less alone or totally distracted.
