Hypatia Rae | 20 comments Hello,

I accidentally uploaded the wrong cover to Curse of the Fae King. Could you please use the one located here instead. (https://www.hypatiaraebooks.com/books)
Apologies, and thank you. (the different is the water mark in the background)

gem | 2622 comments Hello,

Is there any way to read Curse of the Fae King without signing up for a newsletter? If not, I'm afraid it's not a valid entry on the Goodreads site and I'll have to set the record to Invalid status.

From manual: Invalid -- Stories only available via subscription to a newsletter, or via a website that requires registration

Hi gem,

It can also be accessed on my website, is that valid (it does need a password, but not newsletter sign up)? If not, could you please tell me how to validate it? I have seen lots of short stories listed by other authors on goodreads, some of which are available via newsletter but to be honest I don't know if they are also available anywhere else.

Thanks

Unfortunately that would not count since users are still blocked from freely accessing it.

In order for it to be a valid entry on GR, you'd have to do any one of the following:
--Make it a free download on Amazon (users can buy for $0.00)
--Add it to Kindle Unlimited
--Make it downloadable on your website without needing to enter an email (or email is optional)

Keep in mind that if you do any of the above, you can still advertise the story and require an email. Just as long as it's available somewhere online with "no strings attached."

I know the "free story with newsletter signup" is a really important and common marketing tactic for indie authors. I'm sure a lot of similar short stories have been added to the site in violation of the policy (either knowingly or not), but I risk losing my Librarian status if I don't follow the rules.

I went ahead and updated the cover and will give you a few days to decide what to do.

Thanks gem,

I totally understand your position.

I will remove the password requirement to access it on my website. Can I offer a different format or a watermark free version or something with newsletter signup so there is some sort of difference?

I appreciate you taking the time to assist me with this and explain the rules. Here's the link I've set up if you'd like to check it. (https://www.hypatiaraebooks.com/curse...)

Cheers

gem | 2622 comments I think how you've set it up on your author site is fine and aligns with GR policy for short fiction. Thanks for your understanding.

Please add [Done] to the topic title, and don't hesitate to get in touch if you have questions or need more edits. Good luck with your series!
