So sorry for my slow response to this and pms. I had a crazy week workwise!

You can use the same nomination form. All the responses are time and date stamped so it's easy for me to assess which period is being addressed.

Yes! Perfect.

Theresa | 15522 comments Thanks, Anita!

I've copied the link to the form to my Team's private discussion group and made a note to myself to remind my team about it each month when I'm chivvying them to get their reviews posted so I can track and report!.

Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments Hello everyone!

I wanted to address a question that has come up. I realize that in the rules I made it sound mission critical to get all the reviews and tracking done by the end of the month, but I also recognize that it's a bit unreasonable to be super rigid about it. If someone finishes a book on the 31st of the month, and the review is posted on the 1st, and the the team leader needs a day or two to get it into the tracking thread . . .I'm not going to be super punitive about it, especially if the team leaders are notifying me and are striving to get it done.

I realize this is slightly different than the way I phrased it in the rules, but honestly, I'm not going to be tallying the results the first day of the month.

My apologies for the lack of clarity on this point, but I think it's more reasonable. All reading must be done by month end though. Honor system for that part.

I would say that you should be communicating with me please about the status, and I'm talking 1-2 days, not a week.

Cheryl Coppens | 599 comments Anita, I misunderstood the rules. I thought I had until the team posting closed to finish my book. My last book Seabicuit by Laura Hildenbrand doesn't count. Sotty about that.

Robin P | 5742 comments I am looking for anything in the rules about the length of the book but I don't see it. For Steeplechase, 150 pages was mentioned but I don't see it here. Most books I read are well over that, but once in a while they aren't. Example - I have just read A Psalm for the Wild-Built, which is 147 pages in the hardcover I read. It would qualify for letter C and fits the tag, though that was a total suprprise. I read it for another challenge group where I needed a robot book.

If 150 pages minimum has always been a rule for PBT postings for the monthly tag, I've never realized it.

I am reading the Psalm for the Wild-Built now. When I checked the hardcover edition on Amazon, it said it had 160 pages, so I thought it was OK for the challenge (I am reading the kindle edition which says it is 151 pages). I thought that was what Anita used in past challenges. I will wait and see what Anita says before I use it for the challenge though.

That's funny, I literally just finished it before I posted. It is a fast read.

The 150 page rule is only for challenges, not the monthly tag. Many books have different page numbers for different editions, ebooks, hardcover, paperback, etc. When in doubt, check the first Amazon hardcover link, or ask Anita.

We missed one last month too. Some steeplechase books can be shorter and ended up on our BWF lists. I caught one but missed the other.

Theresa | 15522 comments Just reading for the monthly tag is flexible. It's the special challenges, mostly the year long ones like BWF, that have the 150 page minimum. Anita will clarify how that is determined but she/we were using the Amazon hardcover page length last year.

My Feminerdy Book has read both A Psalm for the Wild-Built and its sequel A Prayer for the Crown-Shy and all but one member really liked them. Had some great discussions. I enjoyed them both!

I liked it but it is really a fable and could have been written as 2 earth characters just as well. I"ll post a review and if it works for BWF, I'll update that later.

Chambers was contracted to write this duology by the publisher tovfit the emerging SciFi sub-genre called SolarPunk which is supposed to be futuristic but utopian not dystopian, and promote environment etc. There are interesting articles and interviews easily foind with a little google effort.

Anyway, the inclusion of a robot is part of the messaging, and taken further in the 2nd book.

Of course I roll my eyes over the need to add 'punk' onto SciFi subgenres. Then again the alternatives don't seem much better - 'romantasy'? Seriously?

I never even noticed romantasy until this year. Bennifer got back together so maybe that’s a thing again. (At least I think they did,)

Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments As Theresa and Nancy stated, there is an 150 page minimum for all challenges here.

Robin, my apologies - - I should re-state that rule every time we have a challenge. But it is so longstanding, I (not smartly) assumed everyone knew about it.

I am the judge when it comes to whether a book meets that length, and the way I always check is I look for the Amazon hardcover edition first.

Sometimes, there is no hardcover edition. In that case, I look at multiple other editions to see what the page counts are and try to come to a fair conclusion. It's quite rare for it to be hard to determine, but it's happened.

That's fine, thanks for confirming. I was confusing it with another group that has a 100-page limit. I hardly ever read anything that short. I'll take away the BWF info from my review. I wonder if I had any that sneaked through last year, oh well.

Robin - the Amazon hardcover for A Psalm for the Wild-Built is 160 pages so qualifies for BWF and any other challenge here - here's a link. https://www.amazon.com/Psalm-Wild-Bui....

I’m actually embarrassed that I knew that, but I just checked. They got married in 2022 (nearly 20 years after breaking their engagement). Affleck and Lopez (not Garner)

No reason to be embarassed! We all have stray info like this that we just know.
