Char | 17459 comments I'm excited about it! I hope they do a good job with it, because it would be disappointing if they do not.

Delmy (needfulreads) I dont know about this, i am happy but it depends on what they are doing with it. As long as its not so alien driven, that is what lost me and i stopped watching the show.

My favorite episode of all time though was "Home". I think this was one of their best.

I am right there with you. If it is the soap opera that it was in later seasons, I am out. According to articles that I've read, the revival will be to tie up loose ends in the storyline. Which means soap opera.

I am not very optimistic about this.

Erin (ems84) | 9056 comments I never watched The X-Files, I know shame on me, right? I wonder if it will be self contained so someone who hasn't watched the show can watch this event series. I know the characters and what it's about but nothing beyond that.

The first few seasons of the original series were stand alone. (AND THEY WERE GREAT SEASONS!!!!) It turned into a soap opera though. (THAT SUCKED!!!!!)

It looks like the new series will be a continuation of the soap opera.

Erin (ems84) | 9056 comments A friend of mine, who watched it, told me about how towards the end of the show it wasn't that good. Plus I think one of them left before the end of the series, right?

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 1471 comments Only 6 episodes? I'm feeling greedy for more already.

Steven (tbones) | 133 comments I am so looking forward to this. I've been a fan of that show and the movies from the day it aired. One of my favorite episodes was the one with Fluke Man. That thing was creepy. Oh and the one with the Genie that gave the guy the wish of being invisible. He was invisible, gets hit by a car cause the car can't see him, and along with this no one can see him to help him so cars just keep running him over...talk about being careful of what you wish for :o)

Elke (misspider) | 651 comments Naturally, the first seasons were the best, with lots of odd people and creatures (like Tooms or the one with the cocoons in the woods) and a good dose of humor. Turned bad when it became focused on the alien thing, and of course when the other agents showed up. It just was not the same anymore without Mulder and Scully together.

Jeffrey Eaton (jeffreyeaton) | 42 comments As a fan of the series, I'm excited to know that the show will be returning to FOX for a limited time. From what I've read, the show will not be a continuation of the previous series, seeing how that wouldn't tie-in very well at all, but six new episodes that each feature their own story.

Randy Harmelink | 1639 comments I stopped watching X-Files after the first movie. It went from being a fun "oddity of the week" to a "grand conspiracy" story. And I had been tuning in because I enjoyed the "oddity of the week" aspect.

Too many TV shows lose themselves in this type of changeover. At least for me.

Totally agree with you. The conspiracy aspect did me in and it seemed to get so much more cryptic that I just lost interest. As you put it so well I wanted the "oddity of the week".

But the first seasons sure had the most gore ;)
