Any book that gets people to eat less processed food and more whole food is good. It is odd that the photos of the dishes were not next to the recipes.
Filled another prompt. ✅50- book written by a BIPOC author or character is BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color )) F/NF
Leave the World Behind author is Rumaan Alam family is from Bangladesh.
Thanks, deb. My current read, What an Owl Knows: The New Science of the World's Most Enigmatic Birdswill fill the animal prompt when I finish it.
27- Nature, environment or animals. F/NF
Depending if the library cooperates, I think after that I will try
Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King
That should fit the prompt.
31- Horror or scary

True. Same with scary. You are really set up, aren't you? I seem to be taking a break from prompts, although i cannot explain it. I'm just checking out random stuff. No, wait! 12.21--Dustin Thomason will work for #9- Medical or character related to topic F/NF. I forgot that this was another reason i wanted to read it. Duh.
Honestly, I really just look for books I want to read. I usually can fit them to a prompt. I'm sure as I keep filling in prompts it will be harder. I guess I generally read widely. The Stephen King book a friend has been telling me to read it for ages, so I'm going to give it a try. I have enjoyed the books by him that I've read.
I generally don't do a steady diet of one genre. So I guess that is why it's been easy for me to fill in prompts.
After all that I decided not get get any of the devices. Every day I do what I can but age has given me back issues. I am afraid if I get too competitive I will hurt myself.

I think that's the best way to do it, Alias. Continued success.

It's good to know what's out there, but the bottom line, of course, is what will actually work with/for us.

Congrats on this one, interested to see your thoughts.
I check off another prompt !✅ 31- Horror or scary
Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King
This was some page turner ! 5/5 from me.
It was less horror and more of a scary thriller.
It's part of a trilogy. I'm looking forward to reading the others.
I'll write up a review in the Book Salon later on.

The last Stephen King book I read was The Stand. That book totally grossed me out. Does this one have a gross out factor?
Rachel wrote:The last Stephen King book I read was The Stand. That book totally grossed me out. Does this one have a gross out factor?.."
I think The Stand is King's best. I read it ages ago so I don't recall the gross out factor.
There is a certain, I'll say ick factor, between the psychopath and his mother. I'll leave it at that.
The main violence is at the start when the killer mows down a group of people.
There is also a character who is contemplating suicide.
That's about all I can say without giving too much of the book away.
Some say the book is like a police procedural. If that helps.

What an Owl Knows: The New Science of the World's Most Enigmatic Birds
Well done, Alias. I'm too lazy to look, but it seems as though you've been averaging at least 2 books a week, if not three. Impressive.
Oh, it dawned on me (duh!) that i could count how many prompts you've completed. WOW, you are half-way to 50 already!!! Congratulations!

Alias, that sounds like a very interesting book. Owls were never "my thing" but they sound fascinating.
Rachel, I knew zero about owls. So this book was quite the eye opener for me.One part that was interesting was how different cultures view owls. Some see them as an evil omen, others as good luck.
This reminded me of a talk recently that deb had here regarding how owls kept appearing in books she read. Deb, I hope I'm recalling that conversation correctly. We talked about it when we read Day by Michael Cunningham
Alias, yes, you are correct. In Greece, particularly, they are embraced, thanks to the identification of the god Athena, patron of Athens. She's often depicted with an owl on her shoulder. When i wore my late grandmother-in-law's owl necklace (she was Eastern Band Cherokee), i received all sorts of notice and compliments on it. Same trips, elsewhere in Europe, not a word about the necklace.

The one King book I read ended up too creepy for me. Probably won't be fulfilling that category, but congrats to you on the achievement!
The owl book seems interesting - great choice!

Alias, thanks for alerting me to Day. I just put it on my wish list. So many books, so little time. Isn't that wonderful. Imagine if there were not enough books- omg. Catastrophe. For real.

Thanks for pointing that out to me.
I checked off another prompt !✅46- A book with either an Index, Map, photographs or Glossary
The Bomber Mafia: A Dream, a Temptation, and the Longest Night of the Second World War (photos)
I enjoyed this one a lot. I gave it a 5/5 rating. The audio is exceptional. If choosing between audio and book I would absolutely go with the audio.
I listened to the audio and read along with the eBook. Though it should be noted that the eBook doesn't completely track with the audio. I wanted to have the eBook so I could highlight and makes notes.
I'll write up a review for the Book Salon Thread.

I read this last year and I enjoyed it. I love Gladwell-he is so interesting.
Julie, I remembered your review and had made note of it in my TBR notebook. It's why I selected the book ! Thank you for encouraging me to pick up a book I would have passed by.

Thanks, John. I enjoyed the audio so much I'm giving it a second listen to as I still have a few more days to keep it before my library loan expires.

Thanks for pointing out this book. It seems like quite a departure for Mr. Gladwell.
