As I stated in the group, I do believe the sun with its dramatic appearance in the bedroom began Josie's healing.
But more, I think the author meant to display that love can cause miracles. Josie has just given her dying message to Klara. She wants her mother to know that she loves her, no matter what. After this the comes the miracle of healing. So the sun is the agent, for the miracle of love.
The same miracle we see in the film ET, when Eliott professes his love for the dying alien and ET revives. I'm sure there are many other literary examples.
