Shannon Fay (bottomofastairwell) | 156 comments ok, so i wasn't sure where to put this question, or even if there was a better group for it, but i figured of all people, librarians would know right?

And i'm having difficulty adjusting to this new version of goodreads since the update (i know it was forever ago, i'm slow, gimme a break).

Anyway, I was wondering how we add multiple editions of the same book to our personal libraries.

For example, I own THREE different copies of the Nevernight Chronicles series by Jay Kristoff. The america editions, the UK editions, and then a special book box FANCY set (it really is quite fancy.

As it is a beloved series to me, and all 3 sets are different (different cover art, end pages, the fancy edition is even annotated. you get the idea), i intend to keep ALL 3 sets i own of this series (yes i'm aware it's excessive).

However, my issue is that i'm also meticulous about record keeping for ym personal library, and so i want each individual book i own to be reflected in my goodreads shelves, regardless of whether it's a duplicate and i already own a different copy of that book.

but with the new version of goodreads, i can't figure out how to do that. because when i try to add a different edition of a book i've already shelved, it just changes the edition i've shelved to that new one i'm trying to add, or keeps the old one, but doesn't add the new one.

what am i don't wrong? how do i add multiple edition of the same book to my library?

Someone please help cuz this is driving me NUTS!!!

(also, in case i totally forget to check this, if anyone who has an answer would be so kind as to just copy that answer and message me, i would REALLY appreciate it. no sweat if you can't though, i understand)

Thanks!

Sandra | 31397 comments You're not alone in having multiple copies of books. :D

There is a Help Article: https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/...

Basically, you need to go to the new book page you want, scroll down and follow #4.

Shannon Fay (bottomofastairwell) | 156 comments thanks so much Sandra. I'll have to sort out the message thing. I think my inbox is just full coz I'm never really on here as a social platform and I mostly use out as a catalog, you know?

but thanks again, much appreciated

No, if you go to the tab 'Settings' on your 'Account settings' page, you can set who can send you messages to 'anyone' or 'friends and groups only'. Nowadays the default setting seems to be 'friends and groups only'.
