Randall Moore (goodreadscomrandall_moore) | 47 comments I am with both of you. The way the J6 protesters were treated is disgraceful. I'm happy so many of them have had the weight of malicious prosecution withdrawn from their backs. I hope they will be able to rebuild their lives.

Sorry I haven't been around. Things have been going crazy by me.

Rosie | 46 comments It has not even been a month and so much has been started, but I am so tired already of all the wailing and gnashing of teeth from people. Whether it is about being upset that waste has been found or that our food and health care might be better. They would rather that things continue as they have been.

It is like in the movie “The Green Mile” where he says I’m tired.

Seven inches of snow and zero degrees here tonight. It’s going to be a three dog night. If you don’t know what that means, you’re not old.

Robert Roberts (goodreadscomrobertroberts) | 620 comments Mod
It’s 3 degrees here in SW Mo. and will get to -7 below tonight. What a crock!

And the dems are wanting to crucify him for saving taxpayers billions. He should audit every one of these complainers tax returns and then prosecute them if he finds any irregularities.

Robert Roberts (goodreadscomrobertroberts) | 620 comments Mod
Oh wait that would be weaponizing the government, just exactly what the Democrats did.

message 111: by Rosie (new)

Rosie | 46 comments People would rather have waste than admit they were wrong.

Rosie | 46 comments Also been 24 here in southeastern Virginia all day with 6 inches of snow and it is still coming down.

Some people find weather boring but your story just proves it isn't.
:)
It has been very cold here too due to that strong arctic system again. But, that is going to change on the weekend. We might even see 70 degrees!

message 114: by MaryJo (new)

MaryJo Dawson | 99 comments Although these comments on the Democrats working themselves up into strokes about the DOGE aren't exactly about what were reading, my take on it is, did we expect anything different?
I could care less what hissy fit the extremists are working themselves into.
It is just so refreshing to read much more things being as they should be, like respecting the constitution, taking a hard look where all the money has been going, and putting people into positions of authority that are actually capable of doing the job.

message 115: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 85 comments Well said, MaryJo. Democrats are pitching a fit because the more DOGE exposes, the more we find out how they've been spending our money on things we don't approve of. Before Biden's term ended, he transferred $20 billion into hidden accounts that supported left-wing causes, including financing Kamala's campaign. Of course Dems want to stop DOGE because if it goes far enough, we'll find out who's been getting kick backs and bribes. And we'll finally know why politicians making a modest salary always leave office as millionaires.

MaryJo Dawson | 99 comments Ruth wrote: "I cannot for the life of me figure out why people are so darn mad about it. No matter what side of politics you lean, isn’t finding waste a good thing?"

Of course finding waste is a good thing, unless as Scout pointed out, you have something to hide.....

I think the heads of some of these departments that haven't been challenged in anything for years and years are not liking the fact they themselves haven't addressed the waste going on and will have egg on their faces.

message 120: by Robert, Head Geezer (new)

Robert Roberts (goodreadscomrobertroberts) | 620 comments Mod
Trump/Musk should just ignore rulings by any left wing federal judges. What can these judges do about it? Nothing

message 121: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 85 comments Ruth, I didn't mean that Trump has something to hide. The departments they're exposing are the ones who have something to hide. That's why they're so upset.

message 130: by Rhonda (new)

Rhonda Ruth wrote: "Yeah…he’s from Houston. I don’t count him as anything Texas. Hahaha."

I'm from Corpus but lived in Houston from the time I was 4 until 16. Houston has some screwed up ways and from what I've seen from Mr. Green that hasn't changed. For the disrespect he showed he should have been kicked out of Congress. Plus, he made Texans look disrespectful.

message 131: by Rhonda (new)

Rhonda Ruth wrote: "I agree Rhonda. It’s funny I have most of my family that lived in Corpus and moved to Houston. Haha"

Personally, I would rather be back in Corpus instead of Central Texas. Have family in Houston but no desire to return myself. Hope you have a good week.

message 132: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 85 comments Dems are making themselves look ridiculous with the videos they're posting. They need to get themselves together and stop acting out.

message 133: by MaryJo (new)

MaryJo Dawson | 99 comments I have fond memories of Corpus Christi. Years ago I took a travel nurse assignment there for 3 months and enjoyed the seashores, the wonderful walkways along the seashore, and on days off took great trips to neighboring places from even as far south as Port San Isabel.

My first love is the mountains, but that was a great experience, and the hospital where I worked was a pleasant experience too.

On another travel assignment I had occasion to visit Houston a couple of times, and was in their huge airport a few times too.
For a small town person like me, Houston held no attraction at all.

If New York Governor Hochul would ban face covering of protestors, it would help because the protestors do not want to be identified.

MaryJo Dawson | 99 comments Ruth wrote: "Massive dust in North Texas from the west Texas dust storm. We e had wind 60 mph. Anyone in this region or tri-state experiencing this. It looks like it is 9 pm here."

Now it is the 17th and we are going to have these crazy winds almost every day this week. But it sure is better than the tornados that just devastated certain southern and mid-west states again.

We aren't Irish here; at least we don't think we are! My hubby might have some Irish blood but it can't be much as you people out there who have a lot of it always wear your heritage with pride and wear the green today.

MaryJo Dawson | 99 comments Ruth wrote: "The fact they don’t want to be identified tells me they aren’t protesting for a cause they believe in, but protesting to be violent. You hide when you don’t want to be caught."

I agree with you and Robert about this. Or maybe Daddy who is paying the bills wouldn't be too happy about what they're up to?

Looks like AOC is the new face of the Democratic Party. Good luck with that. I guess Maxine Waters was too busy to take over the crown.

E | 37 comments A male Trumpeter Swan looks peaceful. He can knock over a full-grown coyote and slam it to the ground.

He can take the eye out of a wolf even if he has to die doing it.

I read history. If you can't hold your ground, you lose it. 47 understood what needed to be done, and he's doing it.

E | 37 comments Thanks Ruth!
I put it on my shelf of children's books. I want to order that one. Not too many Swan stories.

E | 37 comments Why is it as we get older, we choke up so badly with animal stories.

The Yearling, Bambi a life in the Forest, Wild Animals I Have Known, Old Yeller, Greyfriars Bobby. Call of the Wild, Black Beauty.

The novels are brutal compared to the movies.

One summer, we had the front door open. Through the screen, we heard tires screeching and a car engine revved up. A bunch of kids were screaming.

My husband ran outside. He thought a kid got hit. There had been a mated pair of wood ducks that liked to swim in the neighbors pool across the street.
The kids all loved the ducks. They would waddle in the front and the kids would give them bread.

According to the oldest kid, A couple punks driving a sports car had deliberately jumped the curb and killed the female.
The male was beside itself and would not leave her. The kids were hysterical.

Nobody had the plate number. If my husband could lay hands on them, he probably would be in prison. He would have beaten them within an inch of their lives.

I ran out with a big towel and wrapped her up. I said all right now. We are going to have to quiet down. She
went to heaven but we are going to give her a nice funeral. we are going in my yard and pick my flowers. The boys dig a hole, and the girls will arrange the flowers.
We will all say some nice words for her.

Ok, so everyone calmed down, and 7 kids, including my husband sent her off.
With the solemnity of a
heros salute.

The male hung around grieving for about a week and finally took off.
They made a marker for her and called her Diane. I guess kids can be pretty inventive.

My husband filed a police report but the monsters psycopaths were never found.
