Starter Villain by John Scalzi 3+ stars (but it has a high average rating, so don't be deterred)

This was a fun book, but I didn't read it at the best time to enjoy the humour, so 3+ stars.

The blurb tells you enough to know the premise, so I'm not going to give you that information, nor am I going to spoil the middle parts or the book for you if for any reason you're someone who reads the ending first. I didn't read the end of this book before I was done and so deserve a gold star ;)--this is twice recently. This is one book that is better if you don't read the ending ahead of time. Suffice it to say that it's a comedy so our hero will make it to the end even though he's in over his head for almost the entire novel.

There is action, adventure and humour, but there are no cats that wear suits in this book. However, the book jacket does mention hyper-intelligent talking (misleading, they can't talk but they can type on special keyboards) spy cats and dolphins, so the cover is not a spoiler.
