Tris |"I'll leave the morrow for the morrow. Today is enough and more."| Prior | 356 comments Hi! I didn't see a thread for this when I looked so I decided to make one! (If I'm wrong just delete it and I'm sorry :) )

I have so many verses that have really impacted my life over this last year! I would love to share and have you guys share yours!

Post the verse and if you want, explain why you love it and what it means to you!

Tris |"I'll leave the morrow for the morrow. Today is enough and more."| Prior | 356 comments ~Isaiah 43:1-7~
But now, this is what the Lord says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. 3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush[a] and Seba in your stead. 4 Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life. 5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west. 6 I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth—7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

It was really the entire chapter, but these verses were the ones that stood out to me the most! The whole book is amazing!

Beware, I am about to write an entire story :)

For the last few years, I have really been struggling with feeling God's presence in my life and ended up drifting farther than ever away from Him. Because if I can't feel Him nor seems like He is helping me, then why should I go out of my way to serve and respect Him? Those were the thoughts that plagued me constantly. Around the time that this feeling started, was in one of the worst patches Ive been in, in a long time.
It was honestly odd because I was shoving Him away but also trying to bring Him closer to get the feeling of His presence back. Around that time I started listening to a podcast by Allie Schnacky. (Keep It Real- highly recommend, it touches on basically every topic of modern day Christian teen struggles) In one of the episodes, she was talking about the presence of God. She talked about how feelings are misleading because it comes from our heart and as we are made of the flesh, our heart will only lead us astray. "You cannot limit God to your feelings." After hearing that I sort of just brushed it off and moved on.
I went to my summer camp about a month later and what do you know. We touched on that in one of our chapel sessions. After, I pulled aside the pastor and explained everything that had been going on and asked Him what I should do. He said the same exact thing. "You cannot limit God to your feelings. Because you cannot limit God period." He talked about the story when Elijah killed all those men but then ran into the forest, wanting to die because he couldnt 'feel' God. While I just nodded and listened to what the pastor had to say, I was not yet willing to actually open up and hear and understand the words being said.
This is the crazy cool part.
After the conversation, I walked outside to do personal devos. I sat by the lake and just prayed to God. I spilled out everything and just talked to Him for a while. Then I opened up my bible, intending to go to the verse in Isaiah we had been discussing. This is crazy and I still find it hard to believe but, as I opened my bible, a gush of wind came through and flipped my pages to Isaiah 43. The first words I saw were "Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you". The total joy and peace that filled me in that moment, had me crying.

So after that terribly long story (I'm sorry LOL), lets just say, I renewed my faith this summer and have actually worked to live out my faith.

God is so good and He has NEVER left you. As said before, I know how that feels but He hasn't
<3
Thank you for listening to my TED Talk

Catherine | 1370 comments Tris, that was such an amazing story! Thank you so much for sharing that with us. Praise God! He is so, so good!!

My favorite verse right now is also from Isaiah: "Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you in my righteous hand."

I'll just say a quick thing: recently, I've been able to see not just how God strengthens me, but also how much He helps me, especially through other people. I'm so grateful for it ❤

Lilly | 2062 comments Thank you for sharing Tris I needed that reminder.
You mentioning the wind reminded me of a couple chapters later in Elisha’s story where Elisha is at his lowest and angry and wanting to die hiding in a cave on the mountain. (My pastor expounded on it a few weeks ago and it was such a blessing I’d never noticed the part with the gentle whisper before).

“And he said, “Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper. And when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And behold, there came a voice to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?””
‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭19‬:‭11‬-‭13‬

Sometimes even if the obvious miraculous has just been preformed or if the solution is explained right in front of my face it takes a moment of quiet and low whisper of a breeze to awake me to renewal or truth.

Tris |"I'll leave the morrow for the morrow. Today is enough and more."| Prior | 356 comments Ohhhh I love that!!
Its hard to remember to take time to actually rest in the Lord, rather than spitting out a prayer and not even waiting to hear.

Lilly | 2062 comments Oops I said Elisha. I meant Elijah. (Why do their names ahe to be so similar 😂)

Lilly | 2062 comments Ah yes. Im a person who can’t stand sitting still (unless there’s a book in my hand) so taking time to be quiet and still is one of my biggest struggles to be honest.

Tris |"I'll leave the morrow for the morrow. Today is enough and more."| Prior | 356 comments haha, I don't know if you meant to send that here but I relate
