Do you guys read with music or without?

I have recently gotten into finding the nature sounds on youtube that are like 10 hours long with a scene and sounds of rain or a fireplace etc. Just on a low volume as some noise in the background but not distracting - helps cancel out the sound of my reading lights that sometimes have a high pitch squeal to them.

Silence is golden for me when reading, so I can lose myself in the story.
With music. I usually find a few songs that I play on loop while reading. Then when listening to the songs by themselves, I think back to the stories I've read. The songs are pretty random though, and aren't really relevant to the books. For example, when I read Five Survive by Holly Jackson, I listened to "Me gustas tu" on loop (which I must say I recommend, it really amped up the atmosphere for some weird reason lol).
Without music.. I like to read in silence because it lets me just immerse myself in the story and let's me feel a party of it
I prefer music without lyrics. Most of the time from video games or lofi playlists
I don’t listen to music while I read. It tends to be distracting. Like having the TV on while reading too. I like my quiet in my room.
Can't concentrate with any noises around(((
Sometimes I do, but only with classical music.
I can usually read while my husband plays his games(weirdly enough it doesn’t distract me as much as you would think 😂). But if I am alone or I can hear him talking I usually listen to instrumential music(like acoustic or lofi)
Most of the time I don't, but when I do. The music is on quiet not to disturb me too much.
Music makes me sad and when I am sad I cry and when I cry I go to bed and when I go to bed I fall asleep and then the cycle starts all over again so no.
I read without music
I love reading with music usually I’ll find a playlist on YouTube that’s just instrumentally to put on while I’ll read but if I don’t feel like listening to that I’ll just put on my own music as background noise
I love reading with music!!! I'm currently reading the first book in the Crescent City series and a listening to a CCS playlist I found on spotify!
Music helps set a mood. Although it's strange because if people are talking around me, I can't focus-
With music, as long as it goes with the vibe of the book
It depends on the music. I can only listen to Taylor Swift because I have a lot of her songs memorized so I know what happens next and don't feel like I need to listen to it. Anything else drives me insane.
i do! I usually listen to music, but the type of music depends on the type of book that I’m reading. Music with lyrics don’t distract me though, I usually tune it out.
With music. Usually YouTube classical playlists with very specific titles like “your the villain questioning your motives”

I usually throw on a lofi YouTube channel that has a live stream or long video of lofi beats with a calming scene to play on my tv. Two channels I dig are Aesthetic Lofi and Lofi Girl. Anything with lyrics I simply cannot because I would just start singing and not paying attention to my book lol
With music love picking out songs that fit the book really helps me get involved
Usually without music. I get distracted very easily, so I need it to be quiet.
With music. It helps with the background noise. Instead of a bunch of background noise music is only one thing.
Always with music or ambience sounds matching the book I'm reading
If not listening to the book, then anything from Pop to HEAVY METAL!!!

Never with music, It makes me distracted. I prefer library or rain asmr.
I do both.. but I often get caught up on the music and you will catch me dancing around my house... singing I am a mess.. ha!
Without. Can't tolerate background noise while reading unless I'm in public.
I like to read both ways, although I prefer music without lyrics, because it distracts me sometimes.

I love to read with music but it has to be without lyrics. I get distracted easily. My go to is the YouTube study music or jazz cafe music.

I like the quiet better because if a song comes on that I love it will distract my train of thought.
i read the climax of a book to some recommended instrumental music and i think that actually made it feel a lot more emotional, but normally i would never listen to music while reading. i start focusing on the music instead

i can read with instrumental music, but not music with words. i prefer a quiet environment though!
