We all have them. Sometimes we know they're horrible and we love them anyway. Other times, we don't understand why no one else likes them.
I have two that come to mind:
1. Prince of Nothing & Aspect Emperor series (total of seven novels) by R. Scott Bakker. They're a straight up anti-LOTR fantasy series. They're also a direct illustration of the author's Blind Brain Theorem- which is a super dark application of Nietschean philosophy. I absolutely loved the series.
2. Earthlings by Sayaka Murata. This one's just flat out disturbing, but I still think of it on a regular basis, even months after finishing.
I get why people would react negatively to both, but I still love them.
