Crap I finished this a while back and while I liked it well enough. (view spoiler)[but this was such a Harry Potter rip-off, like way more than book 1 was. You had the kids in classes then trying to solve a mystery as well, the teachers manipulating behind the scenes. I did enjoy it but thinking of HP the whole time definitely lessened my enjoyment. The whole use students as bait thing was not my favorite thing either. I liked the action and the kids and will continue with the series but I hope book 4 improves. (hide spoiler)]

Was gonna try and read this as my 4th book of the day, but I just kinda went back to binging Taskmaster UK after dinner...

Watched season 1 and half of season 2 in the past 48hrs (only 6 episodes per season)...

Probably won't get to this until next week, instead...

I felt the same in book 1... I hope the author is growing and writing more unique stories... this series is done, and he's started a new series now...

Read this yesterday and enjoyed the school setting. Probably would've been thinking HP if I'd read your comment earlier, but I guess the ripoff qualities hit enough happy for me that I didn't mind... wouldn't be the first (view spoiler)[school story I've read where kids were bait... but for the teachers to admit it so blatantly was a first...

My favorite parts is the group dynamics. I laughed a lot when one person would stand up for another and shoot off their mouth. Can't remember specifics, but enough to make me laugh. I also like the worldbuilding in the character backgrounds. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I got near the end, and the mentor was like "Oops, you weren't supposed to be in 99% of that danger"... then the final chapter implies alot more secrets being kept, which made me think maybe they WERE supposed to be in that danger...

Also, I can't tell if the Sphinx is good or evil, now... there's alot going on there, but I'm leaning lesser evil for now?... (hide spoiler)]
