Please check in here if you are reading or planning to read The Trouble with Peace by Joe Abercrombie, book 2 in the Age of Madness trilogy.

No spoilers here, please!

Christina (christinaovallsbooks) | 70 comments I did start this one, probably much to the annoyance of everyone on Facebook. Since I read the previous book, I might as well keep going. :-)

Yeah, you did get sort of hammered in the Fantasy-Faction Facebook group. Of course, indirectly it was kind of a diatribe against our Goodreads group’s decision. I am not reading this series (and have not read any of Abercrombie’s books) but I will continue to defend our group’s decision to choose this trilogy.

Looking forward to seeing what you think.

Christina (christinaovallsbooks) | 70 comments I laughed at all the people on Facebook. People get riled up so easily :-) I did read all the comments, and apparently the author did an interview where he indicated this was a start of a new series and people could start here too.

Good for you!

Spoiler free version: It's very good, but I think I like my books a bit less dark. The descriptions of the brutality in some of the sections was really off-putting to me. If that would have been a little less vivid or slightly glossed-over, I would more than likely continue reading this series. The story is great though. Lots of plotting, action, some surprises.

Good to know. I don’t like unrelenting grimness and have to take those kinds of books in small doses. I sometimes read less dark books between the ones in a series that are darker, just to allow me to have a break from it.

May our group will choose something less dark for our next series! Fingers crossed.
