Suzanne | 116 comments Hello. I made a sloppy mistake suggesting edits for a series and its translations since it's awhile since I tried to read them and realized there was no final book.

https://www.goodreads.com/series/1122...

How do I fix this? I need to make sure it's corrected on openlibrary as well so want to know the best and most accepted way to sort the works and various editions.

The books in French are Un temps de chien (Charles le téméraire, #1), Un saut dans le vide (Charles le téméraire, #2), and Parti pour la gloire (Charles le téméraire, #3). They were also released as a boxed set of all three, and later the full series in one volume.

Meanwhile, the English translations began. There were three published. Even before I came along the books were being (wrongly) associated one to one. The copyright pages kind of explain it but it's not super clear which is why everyone is confused years after the publishing.

Book 1) Charles the Bold (The Dog Years)
31 Chapters - End of Volume One
https://archive.org/details/charlesbo...

Book 2) The Years of Fire
18 Chapters - End of Volume Two
https://archive.org/details/yearsoffi...

Book 3) A Very Bold Leap
35 Chapters - End of Volume Three
https://archive.org/details/veryboldl...

4) The fourth book of the quartet was never published.

Meanwhile:

1) Un temps de chien (Charles le téméraire, #1)
https://archive.org/details/charlesle...
49 Chapters - Fin de la Premiere partie

2) Un saut dans le vide (Charles le téméraire, #2)
(archive.org not borrowable, I will check my copy later).

3) Parti pour la gloire (Charles le téméraire, #3)
(Never translated)

I guess the problem is all the "A Very Bold Leap" editions need to be moved back to "Un saut dans le vide."

Then Charles the Bold: The Dog Years AND The Years of Fire need to be sorted with Un temps de chien (Charles le téméraire, #1). How does that work? They never had a boxed set, they were released separately at different times. I don't know why the 4th never came to be other than $ and limited market/lack of interest reasons. I'm going to do a little research.

My brain wishes there were subfolders so that the two English halves of the French book could be put into their own works folders (Part 1 and Part 2) then placed in the larger works folder but that's not how any of this works!

Alicia (writeralicia) | 15 comments It looks like there are three books in this series now. If this issue has been resolved, would you please change the subject line to include the word "Done"? If it has not been resolved, what else can I help you with?
