Hello there! Yesterday, I added several quotes from the book Peace in the Middle East?: Reflections on Justice and Nationhood by Noam Chomsky. While the quotes are accurate, they are wrongly attributed to. Noam Chomsky; instead, they were written by Irene L. Gendzier, who wrote the foreword to the book. My lack of skill resulted in me attributed them to Chomsky (the book's primary author) by mistake.

Would it be possible to delete the quotes below?

“If one wishes to preserve a conception of Israeli history in which the Palestinians appear as the personification of evil, it is necessary to camouflage a part of the truth.”

“It is a unique characteristic of Golda Meir's government that at the very time its army was engaged in combat against the Palestinians, it continued to deny their existence.”

“Although it is universally acclaimed as a major military triumph, the Israeli victory of the Six-Day War carried the seeds of its own undoing.”

“War and terrorism not only perpetuate the rift between the two peoples, they polarize sentiment in such a way as to strengthen the determination of each to survive at any cost.”

Any assistance you can provide is appreciated.

Hi Emeric

I can't find Irene L. Gendzier credited as writing the foreward on any source we are allowed to use (or sources that we aren't allowed , for that matter)

Could you give me the ISBN number of your copy?

Otherwise, I will delete these quotes for you - which would be a shame.

My apologies for the delay!

The ISBN for my edition is 0-394-71248-X. The forward by Irene is mentioned on the cover. : )

Here is a link to a scanned copy on Internet Archive: https://archive.org/details/peaceinth...

I'm pretty sure I can't use the internet archive for anything. I know I can't use it for covers.

Do you have a copy you can scan & put with your photos?

Bepina Vragec (is4lib) | 26 comments Hi Emeric,
problem with quotes is that they can be attributed only to primary authors, not to the book directly in cases where there are multiple authors. So you can move your quotes and attribute them to Irene L. Gendzier but in that case you can not attach them to the book in question since she is not a primary author. To attach any quote to "Peace in the Middle East?..." you need to choose Chomsky (primary author) in the author field.
So you can either delete the quotes or attribute them to Irene L. Gendzier without citing the book where she is the secondary author as a source.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 2278 comments The cover shows Ms Gendzier wrote the introduction, so I have changed her to the author. As the librarian above says, we can't credit the quotes to the book though.

If you are disappointed in that result, you can remove them from your personal quotes.

Edit; Typos
