Series description:
Though originally sold in multiple parts as was common at the time, Mrs. Curgenven of Curgenven was written to be a single work and is also published as a https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/30605293-mrs-curgenven-of-curgenven">single volume.
Please set the following as the default description and replace existing “descriptions” that give the author’s biography, talk about the importance of preserving old texts, etc.:
Shortly after inheriting the Curgenven estate, Mrs. Jane Curgenven is shocked to find that her husband was previously married—and his first wife, Theresa, is still alive and at their doorstep. If the truth comes out, Jane’s marriage will be invalidated and she will be publicly humiliated.

Her husband’s unexpected death complicates things further. He leaves behind two wills: an earlier will retaining Jane’s status but bequeathing Curgenven to his cousin, and a later will granting the estate to Jane’s daughter but acknowledging Theresa as his wife. Jane, terrified of societal disapproval, allows the estate manager to suppress the later will. Her husband’s secret is safe and her reputation is preserved, but Jane and her daughter must leave the grand Curgenven manor to her husband’s cousin.

They don’t go far, returning to the vicarage where Jane lived as a child. What follows is a web of blackmail, secrets, romance, and murder as the lives of Jane and Theresa grow increasingly entangled with one other and with a vibrant supporting cast that includes the impoverished moor-child Esther, the sweet Alice, the villainous Mr. Physic, the witch-like Thomasine, and the charismatic Justinian.
Thank you!
