Just for my education, couldn't you set them Invalid yourself? I know librarians can do that for entries which were not shelved, but I thought they can also do it for entries that were shelved less than five time.

You're absolutely right but for some reason I got this message about them being shelved more than five times. Not sure how this is possible but I couldn't do it myself.

Other librarians can comment, but there may or may not be a different limit for deleting an edition vs. making the last edition invalid. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that they use the "shelved more than five times" message in both cases.
