Wonderful! Winning a musical contest in his discipline is wonderful but learning all about mercy and kindness and congratulations and pride and thanking parents is wonderful, too. And you are so right - this will look good to those who are hiring, asking for resumes, asking to solo with their ensemble, etc. I am happy for him and for you. Happy Thanksgiving to you all. peace, janz
wow, wow, WOW! That is WONDERFUL! I know just what an accomplishment that is. Congratulations to him and to all of you.
Oh, congratulations! I know exactly how hard he had to work to achieve this success. It's a wonderful step forward for him.
That’s wonderful. That’s a huge achievement. I imagine the ensemble work helps build relationships and team skills that will be useful in any music career. Individual competitions seem to pit the musicians against one another, while in real life they have to play well with others.
Thanks, all!@NancyJ Yes, he has worked very hard. He's been playing in ensembles since he moved to public school at 13 and, yes, those build team skills; some studies say even better than sports teams do. He's been blessed with many great opportunities beyond our budget, too.

🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺 (fanfare music, naturally)
He won the Carnegie Mellon University Wind Ensemble concerto competition!
This is small in the grand scheme of things, but I am ecstatic because some of those wind students have been doing big name student things from the time they were growing up. This will be good on his CV/resume, too.
